On Monday, President Joe Biden spoke at the annual turkey pardon on the White House lawn, participating in the presidential Thanksgiving tradition. This year, Biden pardoned two turkeys, named Peach and Blossom. However, social media users have honed in on an incident during the ceremony where Biden appeared to struggle with reading the teleprompter, reigniting concerns about the 81-year-old president’s mental health.
A clip that has circulated across social media shows part of Biden’s speech to the ceremony attendees. “According experts, Peach weighs forty-one pounds,” Biden began. “And loves to eat hot dish and teeter totter…and tater tots and cross country skis.” Biden stumbled before saying, “The real dream he has is to see the Northern Light, I’m told.”
Conservatives on X were quick to jump on the clip, commenting on Biden’s apparent struggles. RNC Research shared the clip, writing, “Biden, struggling to read from his teleprompter at the annual turkey pardon, botches the “tater tot hot dish”” while describing the misstatement about the food as an “affront to Midwesterners.”
Others noted this is the latest example of what the mainstream media covered up throughout Biden’s presidency, until it was no longer tenable to do so after the infamous debate against President-elect Trump in June. “And the media and democrats still claim Joe Biden is mentally fit. Massive coverup,” one person said. Echoing this sentiment, another user commented, “The Democrats wanted you to believe this man was fit to be president of the United States.”
Another user added, “Biden still has the nuclear codes.” To this point, other bemoaned that Biden is still the commander-in-chief until January, particularly at a time when geopolitical tensions are flaring with Russia. “Has Biden spoken about his attempts to start WWIII? Once again Americans can see they are not the priority. They are even in line behind turkeys,” another person said.
Other users emphasized the anticipation for Trump to return to the White House and restore order. Another person wrote that “Jan 20th can’t come soon enough. In the meantime Biden and Obama need to be removed from our WH so they can’t do anymore damage.”
Earlier this year, The American Tribune reported on the troubling findings from Special Counsel Robert Hur which affirmed the concerns of many Americans regarding Biden’s mental health. “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory . . . It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

The report continued, “In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden’s memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (“if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?”), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (“in 2009, am I still Vice President?”), He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died. And his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him. Among other things, he mistakenly said he “had a real difference” of opinion with General Karl Eikenberry, when, in fact, Eikenberry was an ally whom Mr. Biden cited approvingly in his Thanksgiving memo to President Obama. In a case where the government must prove that Mr. Biden knew he had possession of the classified Afghanistan documents after the vice presidency and chose to keep those documents, knowing he was violating the law, we expect that at trial, his attorneys would emphasize these limitations in his recall.”
