In yet another example of former first son Hunter Biden embarrassing himself with his lack of impulse control or decorum befitting a public figure, he responded to Melania Trump’s legal team’s request that he retract false claims he made about her and Epstein not with grace and humility, but with a profanity-laden rant about how he won’t be intimidated.
For reference, Hunter made the same claims that have led to forced retractions from other media figures. In the interview with YouTuber Andrew Callaghan on August 6, titled “Hunter Biden Returns,” the former first son claimed “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep.” He added, “Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania, and that’s how Melania and the first lady and the President met.” That is false.
As the statement was false and very defamatory, Melania’s legal team demanded that Hunter retract his statement. So, when Hunter appeared for another interview with Callaghan, the YouTuber gave him the opportunity to do so, asking whether he’d like to back off his false claim about the First Lady and Jeffrey Epstein.
Callaghan told Hunter, “Mrs. Trump is seeking $1 billion in damages if we don’t take the video down, and if Hunter here doesn’t issue a formal apology to Mrs. Trump.” He continued, “So now we’re here maybe to give you the platform to apologize to the first lady for your statements that you made about her possible connection to Jeffrey Epstein.”
Bidne responded with fury and rude vulgarity. “F— that. That’s not gonna happen,” the former first son snapped. Continuing, he insisted that the Melania Trump team is bullying him by demanding he back off a libelous lie, snapping, “I also think they’re bullies, and they think that a billion dollars is going to scare me.”
Then, doubleing down on the claim about Epstein, he said, “I have this to say to them: if they want to sit down for a deposition and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein – if the president, the first lady, want to do that, and all of the known associates around them at the time of whatever time that they met – I’m more than happy to provide them the platform to be able to do it.”

In the legal letter that precipitated Hunter’s rude comments, Melania’s legal team said, “The timing of this video is evident and underscores the actual malice behind the decision to publish it given the plain falsity of the statements. Given your vast history of trading on the names of others—including your surname—for your personal benefit, it is obvious that you published these false and defamatory statements about Mrs. Trump to draw attention to yourself.”
Making his demand, Melania’s lawyer demanded that Hunter “immediately issue a full and fair retraction of the video and any and all other false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading, and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump in as conspicuous a manner as they were originally published” and issue a formal apology “for the false, defamatory, disparaging, misleading and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump.”
Concluding, Brito noted that Hunter faces a massive suit if he doesn’t back down, saying, “If you do not comply with the above by August 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST, Mrs. Trump will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages. You are on notice.”
