WATCH: Hosts of “The View” Seethe Over “Hush Money” Trial “Handing” Trump “A Lot of Votes”

Speaking during the Monday, May 13, broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” the show’s hosts expressed concern that the so-called “hush money” trial brought against former President Donald Trump by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg could be handing votes to Trump by putting him on TV day after day and creating public sympathy for him and thus support for his 2024 campaign.

As background, former President Trump, who has pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts related to falsifying business records brought against him, has remained prominently in the headlines as the trial grinds on and he, stuck in New York, does things like visit NYC bodegas and fire stations to chat with supporters and garner yet more coverage.

Further, as the trial has ground on, even Reuters has admitted that the trial, widely regarded to be the weakest of the four cases he faces, could boost his popularity. Reuters reported that that is the case because Trump has used the case to push the message that he is the victim of a two-tiered justice system that is waging an unfair lawfare campaign against him to torpedo his presidential bid.

As could be expected, that news led to some drama on the far-left ABC show, “The View.” There, the co-hosts argued about the unintended consequences of the media’s constant, breathless coverage of the case, namely the unintended consequence of Trump doing better in the polls, if anything, because of DA Bragg’s case.

During that discussion, co-host Sara Haines commented on the media’s constant coverage, noting, “I would say when you say the Biden campaign has to get more active, I actually blame the media slightly. We talked last week a lot about how I don’t think people are able to watch this Trump trial 24-7. Now we’re talking about we’re in a campaign.”

Haines wasn’t the only one. Co-host Ana Navarro chimed in as well, agreeing with what Haines said and claiming that the Biden Campaign is at a disadvantage because Trump is stuck in court rather than making potentially controversial statements on the campaign trail. She said, “I actually think this trial is somewhat helping Donald Trump because it’s keeping him off the trail and because we are not focusing on the stupid stuff he says on a daily basis. And that is helping him.”

Trump, commenting on the case in a post on Truth Social, said, “Virtually every Legal Analyst and Scholar said yesterday, at the end of the day, THAT THERE IS NO CASE, AND THAT THIS WITCH HUNT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BROUGHT, AND SHOULD BE THROWN OUT NOW!!! WHY WASN’T THIS HOAX BROUGHT SEVEN YEARS AGO, INSTEAD OF IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINNING CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT — ELECTION INTERFERENCE.”

Continuing, he attacked Judge Merchan, saying, “The problem is that this Judge, Merchan, is TOTALLY COMPROMISED, CONFLICTED, AND CORRUPT, MAKING BIG MONEY OFF OF THIS SCAM AND ITS OUTCOME. He can’t render a fair decision, too much is at stake for him and the Democrats. The Appellate Division should remove him immediately!”
