Speaking during a wild interview with Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) didn’t just freak out after getting called out by Bream for his radical agenda and how it’s harming Americans, but also refused to even say that his party wouldn’t move to pack the Supreme Court.
As background, many of the farther left Democrats have long been angry over the Supreme Court’s generally conservative bent, and have reacted to it not by trying to act more constitutionally, but by raging and vowing to pack the Supreme Court with new justices if given the opportunity to do so.
Then there was the matter of the Trump tariffs. Whereas the Supreme Court has generally ruled for President Trump, its mid-February ruling on tariffs found that they were a tax that Congress needed to enact, under the statutes he originally used to justify the tariffs. Bream used that as a way of asking if Democrats would back off threatening to pack the court.
Doing so, the Fox News host began by noting what Jeffries and his party have said about the court in the past, saying, “Okay, so I want to talk to you about the Supreme Court case, because you celebrated it on Friday, as many Democrats did. You have been very critical of the Supreme Court, as have many Democrats, calling them corrupt, saying they’re in the pocket of President Trump, saying that they need to be term-limited, the Court needs to be expanded.”
She then asked if its anti-Trump ruling would change that messaging, syaing, “After the decision on Friday, which included a couple of the President’s own nominees voting against him and the arguments he was making, are Democrats now prepared to say that the court is neutral, it’s independent and you’ll stop talk of packing or term limiting the court?”
Jeffries, absurdly, insisted that Democrats haven’t discussed packing the court, which is absolutely untrue. He said, “I strongly disagreed with Supreme Court decisions in the past, and will continue to do so. However, the Supreme Court in this instance did the right thing. In terms of packing the court, that’s not a discussion that we’ve engaged in.” Bream fired back, “Many of your Members have.”
Jeffries then absurdly tried to change the subject and insist that Democrats are too focused on Obamacare to think about packing the court, saying, “As Democrats, listen, we’ve made clear to the American people. We’ve made clear, and I certainly made clear, that we’re focused on trying to do three things at this moment. Lower the high cost of living. Fix our broken healthcare system—we can begin by extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits so that tens of millions of hard-working American taxpayers don’t experience dramatically increased premiums, co-pays and deductibles throughout the year.”

He added, unfortunately without more pushback on his SCOTUS packing question-dodging from Bream, “And of course, we also need to get ICE under control and deliver immigration enforcement in this country that’s fair, that’s just, that’s humane, so that taxpayer dollars aren’t being used to actually kill American citizens, like Renee Nicole Good or Alex Pretti.”
