WATCH: Guidebook Author and “Citizen of the World” Rick Steves Goes on Bizarre Attack Against Trump

In a video posted to X (formerly Twitter) in the evening of Thursday, September 12, guidebook author and traveler Rick Steves went on a ridiculous rant and bizarre attack against former President Donald Trump, saying that Trump would bring chaos whereas Vice President Kamala Harris would bring stability to the country and world scene.

In the video he posted, Steves, quite wildly, given his focus on American politics, described himself as a “citizen of the world,” and then noted that he has thoughts on the election between Trump and Kamala. He said, “Hey, I’m Rick Steves, in France as a traveler. I’m both a proud American and a citizen of the world, and I’ve got a few thoughts for this coming election.”

Continuing, he insisted that Trump would bring chaos whereas Kamala Harris, who has done things like draw attention to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which went on to bail out one man who went on to kill someone, will bring stability to the world. Steves said, “The world needs not the chaos of Trump but the stability of Kamala Harris.”

Concluding the video, Steves said that the world needs “American leadership” and for America to “confront the challenges of the future,” which is true enough but, many would argue, isn’t a point in Kamala’s favor. He said, “It needs American leadership within the family of nations as we effectively confront the challenges of the future. That’s why I’m voting blue, and I hope you will too.”

In his tweet that included the video, Steves started out the same way, saying, “As a traveler, I’m both a proud American and a citizen of the world — and I’ve got a few thoughts on this coming election.” Then, changing things up, he said that being a “family of nations” matters more than “partisanship” in this election because of “challenges like pandemics” and “refugees.”

Making that wild point, Steves wrote, “This election is deeper than partisanship. It’s far more than Republican versus Democrat. In the future, big challenges like pandemics, refugees, and climate change will be blind to borders. They’ll be everyone’s problem and only solved by working together as a family of nations.”

He then insisted that Trump would bring “American isolation” and not “American leadership.” He wrote, “The world needs not American isolation, but American leadership. Not the chaos of Trump, but the stability of
@KamalaHarris.” Concluding, he said, “Of course, how you vote is your choice. But if you believe, as I do, in the importance of nations working together constructively, the stakes are really high…and the best candidate is clear. Commenters went on the attack against Steves and poked holes in his bizarre argument, saying things like “Are you insane? The reason Trump’s administration looked unstable was entirely because of (a) smoke and mirrors from the media, (b) lies from his political opponents, or © treasonous behavior from his subordinates” and “When the country or your audience is divided 50/50 what is the point of taking sides other than to turn off 50%.”
