On Monday, September 15, just after Turning Point USA founder and key Trump ally Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in a horrific assassination in Utah, Fox News Channel personalities Greg Gutfeld and Jessica Tarlov got into it on FNC’s “The Five”, with Tarlov pushing a “both sides” argument that set Gutfeld off.
As background, Tyler Robinson, the killer of Charlie Kirk was apparently a leftist who was dating a transgender individual, with whom he reportedly communicated about the shooting before and after it happened. Many on the right have argued that such violence, particularly following the assassination attempt on Charlie Kirk and Antifa-connected riots, shows the left is quite violent and needs to be reigned in.
Tarlov tried pushing back on that, even in the days after Charlie’s death. Doing so, the woke “The Five” co-host brought up the death of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman (D), and tried to use that to claim that both sides have a problem with political violence, adding that there is a need for “more information” before Gutfeld and others “smear” the Charlie Kirk assassin.
Thundering back, Gutfeld declared, “We don’t need more information!” Continuing, he snapped that the political violence is all coming from the left, saying, “What is interesting here is why is only this happening on the left and not the right? That’s all we need to know.”
Noting that the state representative that Tarlov had brought up was a much less important political figure than Charlie Kirk, he then snapped, “You want to talk about Melissa Hortman? Did you know her name before it happened? None of us did. None of us were spending every single day talking about Mrs. Hortman. I never heard about her until she died.”
Tarlov snapped back, “So she doesn’t matter?” Thundering in his reply, Gutfeld said, “Don’t play that bullsh*t with me!” Continuing with his takedown of his woke cohost, he added, “What I’m saying is there was no demonization, amplification about that woman before she died. It was a specific crime against her by someone who knew her.”
And, hammering her attempt to do a “both sides” argument to minimize the slaying of Kirk, Gutfeld declared, “We don’t care about your both sides argument!” He further added, noting that conservatives are no longer buying into leftist both-sidesism, “that sh*t is dead.”

Still not done, Gutfeld then noted that she was trying to rationalize away the slaying, saying, “On your side, your beliefs do not match reality so you’re coming up with these rationalizations. ‘What about this, what about that?’ We are not doing that because we saw it happen. We saw a young bright man assassinated and we know who did it.”
And, skewering the leftist media and returning to his point about conservatives being done with the “both sides” game, he said, “The media is dead to us on this story. They built this thing up. We are dealing with it, we are going to act. We don’t care what the what about is anymore, that sh*t is dead!”
