Governor Noem of South Dakota ripped into Ben & Jerry’s, the woke, Vermont-based ice cream company that attacked America for its successful prosecution of conquest against the Native Americans in an Independence Day statement.
In that statement, the woke ice cream company said, “Ah, the Fourth of July. Who doesn’t love a good parade, some tasty barbecue, and a stirring fireworks display? The only problem with all that, though, is that it can distract from an essential truth about this nation’s birth: The US was founded on stolen Indigenous land.”
Continuing, the brand went on to say, “This 4th of July, it’s high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it. This year, let’s commit to returning it. Here’s why we need to start with Mount Rushmore.”
It also said, in the ridiculous statement, “The Great Sioux Nation, as the tribes in the area were collectively known, was forced to surrender its land and relocate to smaller reservations on land that the government considered “useless.” From there, in 1927, they watched as their holy mountain, now located on land known as South Dakota, was desecrated and dynamited to honor their colonizers, four white men—two of whom enslaved people and all of whom were hostile to Indigenous people and values.”
In another part, the statement said, “But what is the meaning of Independence Day for those whose land this country stole, those who were murdered and forced with brutal violence onto reservations, those who were pushed from their holy places and denied their freedom? The faces on Mount Rushmore are the faces of men who actively worked to destroy Indigenous cultures and ways of life, to deny Indigenous people their basic rights.”
And so it smeared some of the greatest Americans on July 4th, as close as our secular state can come to heresy. Well, Gov. Noem wasn’t having it. She hit back hard during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends,” saying that her state doesn’t need to listen to the leftist ramblings of ignoramuses from Vermont that want to tear down monuments to American greatness.
Beginning, she said she wasn’t going to listen to those Vermont leftists, as they obviously haven’t studied American history and so don’t know what they’re talking about. She said, “I’m not going to listen to a bunch of liberal Vermont businessmen who think they know everything about this country and haven’t studied our history.”
She then added that Mount Rushmore is one of the greatest symbols of American greatness and what our country stands for, saying, “Right now, Mount Rushmore is the greatest symbol of our freedom and history of the United States of America.”
Continuing, she noted that though the men on the mountain aren’t perfect and there are things we can learn from their mistakes, the challenges they led us through need to be recognized. In her words: “We can learn from the men on that mountain. We can do better. But, boy, they led us through some challenging times.”
Then, continuing with that perspective and claims, Noem argued that Americans need some inspiration as to what their country stands for and its values, and those things can be learned from studying the men on the mountain. In her words: “And I think Americans in this country need some inspiration, and we can gain it from a monument like that.”
She then blasted the company for having no idea what they’re saying or doing and arguing Americans should be proud of their country’s values and history rather than following in the anti-American footsteps of the woke, Vermont ice cream makers, saying, “We should be proud of America and knock off what Ben & Jerry’s is doing. They don’t have any idea what they’re doing.”
