WATCH: GOP Skewers ABC’s Karl Live on Air Over Kamala Claims

Appearing on ABC News for an interview on Sunday, August 25, Sen. Tom Cotton obliterated ABC News host Jonathan Karl live on air over claims that Karl made about the Democratic 2024 presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris. Namely, Karl made claims that Cotton characterized as false about VP Harris’s policy positions.

Sen. Cotton’s remarks on the matter came when he spoke on ABC’s “This Week” and commented on the many ways that former President and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is quite different from VP Kamala Harris, who has gone all in on woke policies, supporting, Cotton suggested, everything from amnesty for illegal immigrants to civilian disarmament (gun control).

Making that point and starting the funny, live-on-TV verbal brawl with Karl, Sen. Cotton said that Kamala supports things like “decriminalizing illegal immigration or giving taxpayer-funded health insurance to illegal aliens or taking away health insurance on the job for 170 million Americans, banning gas cars, confiscating firearms.”

Snarling, Karl snapped, “What do you mean taking away health insurance? What are you talking about?” Sen. Cotton, responding, noted that Kamala ran against private health insurance, telling Karl, “She said when she ran for president that she wants to eliminate private health insurance on the job of 170 million Americans, Jon.” Karl snapped back that that position from relatively recently is “not her position now.”

Sen. Cotton then asked Karl how he knows that Kamala no longer supports that. He asked, “How do you know that’s not her position? How do you know that’s not her position?” Karl claimed that Kamala has said she no longer supports that position, and Sen. Cotton fired back, “She has not said that. She has not said that. She has not said that. Maybe anonymous aides on a Friday night have said that, but the last thing that she said –”

Cutting Cotton off in response, Karl then claimed that VP Harris is “not taking the positions of the far left of her party.” Continuing, Karl claimed, “She’s clearly making an effort to move to the middle.” Sen. Cotton, in response, argued that VP Harris is far to the left, a San Francisco radial, and that the American people are justified in thinking as much of her.

Sen. Cotton said, pushing back on Mr. Karl’s ridiculous claims that VP Harris is a moderate, “The American people are totally justified to conclude that Kamala Harris is a dangerous San Francisco liberal based on what she campaigned on the last time she ran for president and what this administration has done for the last four years.”

Continuing, Sen. Cotton argued, “Again, you would have thought watching the Democratic convention last week that the Democrats are not in office, that they’re not in power, that they’re campaigning against an incumbent Republican, when in reality she’s been part of the failures of the Biden-Harris administration for four years. And when she campaigned for president in her own right, she did in fact promise things like decriminalizing illegal immigration, taking away —”
