WATCH: GOP Senator Calls Out Two RINOs for Lying about the SAVE America Act to Try and Ensure It Doesn’t Pass

Speaking in a hugely important video he posted to X, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) revealed how RINOs like Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) are lying to their voters about the SAVE America Act in their claims that it can be passed via reconciliation, and thus misleading Republicans in a way that could cost the GOP the ability to get the bill passed at all.

For reference, Sen. Lee has remained a prominent proponent of the SAVE America Act, highlighting the ways in which it is a much-needed piece of legislation, and that the GOP could get it passed if it put its mind to getting it passed rather than just dithering around and doing nothing of note.

He upped the ante in his recent video on the matter, arguing that those RINOs like Thune and Graham who are insisting it can be passed via reconciliation are lying, and that it cannot be because it is a policy bill rather than a budgetary bill, so relying on that process would mean it is not passed at all.

Nick Sortor, drawing attention to that on X in a post that included the video and some necessary context, wrote, “Sen. Mike Lee is CALLING OUT John Thune and Lindsey Graham for pretending the SAVE America Act can be passed through “reconciliation” (50+1) RINOs WANT you to believe this so they can “pass it” and then blame the PARLIAMENTARIAN for its failure DO NOT FALL FOR IT! Enforce the talking filibuster!”

In the video itself, Sen. Lee began by saying that budget reconciliation is a useful process because much can be passed with it and a simple majority vote, saying, “There are a lot of things that can be passed through a Senate procedure known as budget reconciliation, through which we can pass things with a simple majority vote.”

Continuing, however, he noted that this all-important piece of legislation doesn’t qualify for that process, saying, “The SAVE AMERICA Act isn’t one of those things. It can’t pass through budget reconciliation because it’s a policy. It is not budgetary, and even if you attach money to it.”

Adding to that, he noted that it has a “practically zero chance” of passing the way they claim it will, which they must know as experienced legislators. He said, “There are things at the margins we could do to help facilitate compliance with it, but the restrictions themselves have basically zero chance of meeting the standard to pass through budget reconciliation.”

Concluding, Sen. Lee explained, “So look, regardless, there are other reasons out there to do budget reconciliation. Do not be fooled into thinking that we can set down the SAVE Act, the SAVE AMERICA Act, and just pick it up on budget reconciliation. That’s not going to work.”

Commenters on Sortor’s post wrote things like “I’m so sick of seeing Lindsey’s yucky mug on Hannity. Can’t stand to see Thune lying through his teeth, either” and “I’m honestly sick oof Senate GOP. 29 of them keep Thune in power. Time to start putting pressure on them to do their job or we will unseat them too.”
