In a hugely exciting call for major immigration reform made on Newsmax, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) called for a total moratorium on immigration, meaning both legal and illegal immigration, so that America can get back on track without facing continued pressure and issues from abroad. Such is what Rep. Fine said when speaking on “Rob Schmitt Tonight” on Newsmax.
Rep. Fine’s commentary on the matter of an immigration moratorium came when Schmitt asked him what sort of changes need to be made as soon as possible, saying, “What are the changes that we need to make immediately in law, in your opinion, sir?”
Kicking off his response, Rep. Fine argued that the most important thing that America needs to do, and do it as soon as possible, is to immediately crack down on all immigration, including legal immigration, saying, “Well, I think immediately we need to stop it all, all legal immigration of any kind, because clearly it’s out of control.”
Continuing, he gave examples of how foreigners, including those who come to America legally, are taking advantage of our laws and generosity, saying, “People coming here on tourist visas, protesting the country, people claiming that they’re refugees, but then scamming the system and going on vacation to the countries they supposedly fled from, people coming and taking American jobs.”
Returning to the matter of what laws need to be changed, the congressman commented on what the ideal immigrant looks like and why we need to restructure our immigration laws to that effect, saying, “We need to restructure our legal immigration system to only allow people who love America, share American values, want to add value and assimilate to America, and don’t want any free stuff.”
Then, noting that Chip Roy is already introducing legislation to this effect and how the breathing room that could be granted by it would be hugely beneficial, Rep. Fine said, “So we need to stop it, which is what Chip Roy is proposing with his PAUSE act. And then we need to rebuild the system so the right kinds of people are coming here, not those who hate America and want to rip off America.”

Rep. Fine further posted about the matter on X, noting in much the same terms that foreigners, illegal and legal alike, are fighting to scam the American government and people, saying, “We need to pause all immigration to America of any form right now. Foreigners are coming on tourist visas to protest America. Foreigners are scamming us—claiming refugee status and then going on vacations to the countries they supposedly fled from. Foreigners are coming here and taking American jobs.”
Continuing, he argued that halting immigration to America would be great for the country in that it would not only cut off the fraud, but would allow America to have some breathing space and rebuild, saying, “After halting immigration, we must then rebuild our system to allow entry only for people who share our values and want to assimilate.”
