Speaking on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight” with host Rob Schmitt, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) called for Congress to bring a total end to federal spending on welfare for illegal aliens or legal immigrants, saying that America is deeply in debt and has absolutely no business spending vast sums on such nonsense.
As background, Rep. Fine has grown increasingly strident in his demands regarding legal and illegal arguments, doing everything from calling out the vast welfare schemes that aid illegal aliens and demanding that those schemes be brought to an end to trying to ban Sharia law in America.
In any case, speaking on the matter during his appearance on Newsmax, Rep. Fine noted that America is deeply in debt and so shouldn’t be handing out money to foreigners at a time when we already can’t pay our bills, saying, “The fact of the matter is, we’re borrowing a trillion dollars a year that we don’t have, and we shouldn’t be giving that money to foreigners.”
Building on that, he explained that while the focus on the massive damage illegal aliens are doing to America is correct, the fact is that legal immigrants in the country are a massive problem too. He said, “We’ve focused for years on illegal immigrants and the damage they do to the country, but the fact of the matter is, these aren’t the legal immigrants of 100 years ago who came to America for freedom and opportunity.”
Giving an example of the sort of problems we face with our present legal migrants, Rep. Fine pointed to the Somali migrants in Minnesota who have stolen so much from taxpayers. He said, “Now we’re faced with immigrants like these folks from Somalia who just came here to see how much free stuff they can get, whether it’s legal or scam.”
Concluding, Rep. Fine returned to his point about the debt, saying that it is high time to stop taking out massive amounts of debt so that we can pay for welfare schemes for foreigners, saying, “I think we need to cut off all welfare for all immigrants. Americans only no more borrowing from our kids to give free stuff to foreigners.”
Posting about the matter on X, in a tweet that included the clip of him commenting on the issue, Rep. Fine called for a total end to welfare for illegal aliens, saying, “It’s time to cut off all taxpayer-funded welfare for legal and illegal immigrants. American citizens should be the only ones receiving benefits PERIOD.” Watch him here:

Commenters on Rep. Fine’s post largely agreed, saying things like “Even citizens need meaningful PAID work requirements of 40 hours per week” and “Right. No immigrant should be allowed if that immigrant requires public support. How is that fair to already strained taxpayers?”
Others called for an end to all welfare programs, saying things like, “No Randy, the programs shouldn’t exist in the first place. This isn’t complicated, remove the program and you remove the fraud. These programs are so far outside of what the government has authorization to do it’s appalling. But even if you think it has the authority, it clearly doesn’t have the efficacy. Stop the programs, stole the deficit spending, and fix the countries real issues.”
