Speaking with CNN host Kaitlan Collins, Rep. Bryan Mast roasted her and her network for providing what he characterized as political cover for the Biden-Harris Administration, namely cover for their disastrous 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan and attacking Trump for the discredited and unsubstantiated “losers” story from 2020.
Mast’s ridicule of Collins and her woke network came when he appeared on Collins’s “The Story” on the night of Friday, August 16. Collins attempted to cover for Biden and Harris by attacking Trump, claiming that the former president denigrates service members. Rep. Mast fired back at her, claiming that quite the opposite is the case.
Pushing back on Collins’s controversial claim about Trump, Rep. Mast said, “He does not denigrate our military. He loves our military. President Trump is the candidate, J.D. Vance is the candidate that want to make sure our individuals, that their service is not squandered, like what happened with the withdrawal from Afghanistan.”
Continuing, Rep. Mast sounded off on the Afghanistan disaster and argued that in being responsible for that disaster, the Biden-Harris Administration had “squandered” the efforts of the servicemembers who fought there. He said, “Harris and Biden, they squandered the service, of every veteran that served in Afghanistan, because of that withdrawal, because they failed to talk about the failures that exists there. They look at us as disposables.”
Then, when Collins again attempted to defend the Biden-Harris Administration and attack Trump, Rep. Mast again went back to the 2021 disaster, saying, “They see us as disposable. When President Biden goes out onto a tarmac, checks his watch, they’re seeing us as disposable individuals. They don’t calculate the cost of war, for when you come home.”
Continuing, he called out changes being made to the VA, saying, “Right now, let’s talk about a factual thing. If you’re in the VA, right now, and you’re getting care for mental health counseling, in the community, the Harris-Biden administration is trying to strip you of your community care. They want you to come back into the VA, no matter the wait times.”
Further elaborating on the point of service member sacrifice and suffering contrasted with the Swamp’s lack of concern about what they are going through, Rep. Mast pointed to the massive number of veteran suicides, saying, “That’s the population, most vulnerable, 22 veterans a day commit suicide. That’s the Harris-Biden administration.”n
Collins once again attempted to defend the Biden-Harris Administration and attack Trump, to which Rep. Mast responded by saying, “You’re talking about words of President Trump versus literal actions of the Biden administration. Again, and I’ll use these words, they got out there, and they treat our service … [members] like we are disposable.”
Continuing with that rebuttal, Rep. Mast argued that the Biden-Harris Administration has treated service members quite poorly, saying, “And we are not. And that’s the way that his administration has treated service members, on the battlefield, and those that came home, as though we’re disposable items that you can get rid of.”
Watch him here:
Attacking Collins on X after the interview, Rep. Mast said, “New low for @CNN . @kaitlancollins , you’re invalidating painful experiences of Afghanistan vets to cover for Biden. Letting him off the hook because ‘his son served in the military’ is like letting an arsonist free because he’s related to a firefighter! We are not disposable!”
