President Donald Trump, a passionate fan of the sport of golf, was joined by his granddaughter, Kai, who shares his affinity for the game, at the Ryder Cup in September 2025, showcasing a side of the president that many folks seem to overlook: his dedication to his family. The pair showed up to the Bethpage Black golf course in Farmingdale, New York, to watch the tournament.
Trump, as usual, was dapper, sharp, and professional donning a suit for the occasion, though he was a bit more relaxed without his classic red tie, while also sporting a pair of golf shoes. Kai, 18, rocked a pair of black jeans and sneakers, completing the look with a sweatshirt featuring her initials in red and blue letters, a piece from her new fashion collection.
The grandfather and granddaughter duo took a seat in a shielded area to watch the event. Both Trumps have been outspoken about their love for the game of golf over the years. During her speech at the Republican National Convention in July 2024, Kai made a reference to the beloved sport. “He calls me during the middle of the school day to ask how my golf game is going and tells me all about his,” the teen wisecracked during the address.
According to Yahoo News, the 18-year-old added, “But then I have to remind him that I’m in school and I’ll have to call him back later.” In April 2025, President Trump gushed about how good Kai is at golf in a video. “I play a lot of golf with Kai and she’s a fantastic golfer,” Trump said in the video, clearly proud of his granddaughter. “She’s doing really well and she wins a lot of matches.”
The president continued, saying, “Some day she’ll be able to beat her grandfather, but I’m not sure when that’ll be. It might be a long time.” In August 2024, Kai committed to being part of the University of Miami’s golf team. “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” she wrote on her Instagram account.
Kai Trump has since graduated from high school, where she attended The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida. Kai documented the moment on social media, saying, “I cannot believe it’s my last first day of high school,” adding, “Senior year here we come.” Folks on social media platform X praised Trump for his love and dedication to his family.
One user wrote, “I love seeing Trump with his grandkids! Just a feel good Friday!” Another individual took a swipe at the mainstream media’s false portrayal of the president, saying, “But Legacy Media told me he’s a dictator; literally destroying ‘democracy!’ How can this be?!” Another commenter noted the crowd’s love for Trump, going on to write, “The crowd’s energy shows just how much Trump still rallies his supporters in public events.” Another said, “Crowd’s got it right! Patriots revving up at the Ryder Cup. Epic energy.”
