A college student who was waiting for President Donald Trump at a campus rally in Florida answered a Fox correspondent’s question concerning his priorities by discussing economic difficulties before the reporter ultimately turned the conversation toward the topic of polling. The correspondent was talking to students ahead of the rally when she turned to talk to a young man named Andrew.
She then asked what he expected the president to say and which issues were important to him during this election cycle. Andrew commented that his top priorities were relief on the war, lower inflation, lower interest rates, and steadier prices for shopping and fuel for his truck. “It’s just absurd pricing right now,” he stated in the video clip.
He then added that he was hoping to see some improvement in the economy. The answer wasn’t what the reporter was expecting, as she quickly turned to the Fox News power rankings, which she said showed the local race moving further toward the GOP. Trump was the headliner for the midterm rally held at Alico Arena located on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus in Fort Myers.
The president was there to show support for GOP gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds and Senate candidate Ashley Moody, just 11 days out from the November 3 elections. The campus is located in one of the Sunshine State’s most Republican areas. Andrew mentioned the current conflict with Iran, which has caused a significant spike in gas prices.
According to a report from The Daily Caller, Trump has referred to the high prices at the pump a small cost to pay in order to prevent Iran from getting its hands on a nuclear weapon. He then stated that gas prices would tumble once the war concluded. The only problem for many MAGA supporters and other brands of conservative, is the conflict was supposed to end months ago and as of now, there’s no end in sight.
In fact, Iran recently claimed that they struck seven oil tankers located in the Persian Gulf and close to the Strait of Hormuz, issuing a warning that if the U.S. continued military operations, it could result in expanded Iranian assaults on military bases located throughout the Middle East. Four vessels allegedly caught fire after being attacked, while three other ships struck naval mines west of the Strait of Hormuz.
“As President Trump stated, Iran is in very bad condition, both economically and militarily, and the blockade will remain in full force and effect, with oil flowing in record numbers of barrels through the Hormuz Strait,” Anna Kelly, White House principal deputy press secretary, said, “The United States will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the midterm elections.”

Economic unease has become a major issue facing Republicans as they head into the midterm elections, as polling from Fox News indicates the GOP has rough ride ahead of them. One important data set contained in the Fox News polls says that three-quarters of U.S. voters continue to give the economy negative ratings, with 70% saying they feel the economy is getting worse.
