WATCH: FNC Host Hammers Dem Over Economy Live on Air

Fox News host Harris Faulkner recently shut down a Democratic guest who attempted to claim the current state of the economy was a “winning issue” for Vice President Kamala Harris.  Faulkner introduced the topic by bringing up the latest jobs report that severely missed expectations, which Democrats have scrambled to explain just days before the election.

However, Faulkner butted heads with guest David Carlucci, former Democratic New York State Senator, who attempted to portray the economy in a positive light that Kamala Harris could win voters on.  Faulker initiated the discussion, asking conservative media contributor Deroy Murdock, “I want to start with you on getting the news about an expected 100,000 jobs, and the report delivers news about 12,000 jobs added.”

Murdock pointed out the troubling nature of the last jobs report before the election, stating, “That’s bad right before the election, bad for the American public. No matter when it happens. It’s fair. I mean, it wasn’t like they expected 100 and we got to 95 or 80. This is up by 88% of expectation was. And you know, if they’re going to be, people are going to make making up their minds over the last few days, between now and Election Day. This is very bad news.”

Weighing in on the topic, Faulkner continued, “I’m wondering why the Vice President isn’t talking about this, because I have to think they know before we do. And so getting ahead of this with a more juicy message on I feel your pain. She’s got Bill Clinton, goodness gracious. Take him with you. I mean, don’t let him talk about the border, though that’s gonna be a problem for Kamala Harris. But seriously, what’s going on in these last few days?”

Carlucci began, confidently stating, “Well, I think this is a winning issue for Kamala Harris.”  Arguing with Faulkner on polling data about which candidate voters trust more on the economy, the former New York state senator added, “You would think that there would be a further gap in terms of issues of immigration, border, economy, and we see that these are closer than what many people would have said.”

Continuing, Carlucci suggested that former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric skews the conservative perspectives on the economy.  “If you only listen to one side and the rallies that Donald Trump does, he acts like the economy is in the toilet. But that’s just not true,” he said.  “Yes, people are struggling, and Kamala Harris knows that and says that, but you’ve got to take it in its entirety. If we look at where we were four years ago, economists were saying we were headed towards a recession, possibly a depression.”

However, Faulkner interjected pointing out what happened to the economy when President Biden and vice President Kamala Harris stepped into office.  “Where we were four years ago was heading into 9% inflation, 9% inflation, so exactly four years ago, around the time of the election, what was being handed was 1.4 so I’m confused. I don’t think you really want to go back four years because it’s an easy conversation.”

Carlucci retorted, “America doesn’t want to go back four years ago, right? Because Donald Trump was leaving the White House. He was the second president after Hoover Hoover, to leave with less jobs when he when he left office than when he started office.”  Firing back, Faulkner provided a crucial piece of context that most of Trump’s job losses resulted from the pandemic at the tail-end of his presidency.  “We were in a pandemic,” the host said, setting the record straight.
