Governor Ron DeSantis has sent the liberals into a massive meltdown after he announced that rainbow crosswalks, which are common in progressive areas, will be painted over. Reacting to the announcement, State Senator Carlos Guillermo-Smith (D) went on a massive rant, which was filmed and posted to X, creating an enormous backlash from conservatives.
As reported by online sleuths, woke activists protested the decision by attempting to recreate the rainbow flag, which represents the LGBTQIA+ agenda, in sidewalk chalk. Undeterred by these feeble protests, DeSantis declared that he would not allow his state’s roads to be turned into props for political causes.
In any case, Guillermo-Smith alleged that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) had vandalized the sidewalk. The woke activist complained, “Hi everyone. This is state senator Carlos Guillermo-Smith. I am outside the Pulse nightclub interim Memorial, and we just discovered that the Florida Department of Transportation, in the middle of the night, ripped the rainbow colors off of this city crosswalk.”
Continuing his unhinged rant, the state sentor whined, “They illegally vandalized city property, without providing the city of Orlando notice or getting their approval to remove this rainbow crosswalk that was painted here, not only to remember the lives of the 49 mostly LGBTQ people of color who were murdered here, but also to keep the pedestrians and visitors safe who have come here year after year
to pay their respects to those lives who were taken here.”
Attacking Governor DeSantis, he turned to cheap moral grandstanding. The woke activist complained, “I cannot believe that the DeSantis administration has engaged in this hostile act against the city of Orlando, that they have insulted the families and survivors of this horrific tragedy, and that they have done this in this way.”
Still not done, the screed continued, “Of course, they did this in the middle of the night because they knew what they were doing was wrong. I hope the city of Orlando paints these colors back onto their property, and that they sue the state of Florida for vandalizing their property without their consent and denying them the legal administrative process they have through the FDOT, to appeal this ridiculously short-sighted and bigoted decision by the state of Florida and the DeSantis administration.”
As explained by one online source, woke activists tried to restore the political crosswalk with multicolored chalk. As reported by Florida Voice: “UPDATE: State Sen. Carlos G. Smith fights back at DeSantis Administration’s Dept. of Transportation, manually chalking in the LGBTQ rainbow colors on the crosswalk in Orlando”

Agreeing with the governor’s take on the video, one user noted, “Bro, your whole brand is commandeering roads, schools, books, and people’s lives for political purposes.” Building on this comment, a comment read, “Florida resident here and I agree 💯👍, they can rent a billboard but not risk the driving public with distractions on the pavement.”
