First Lady Melania Trump brought style, horsepower, and a serious cause together at the White House, posing beside a patriotic IndyCar tied to a new $2 million scholarship push for young people leaving foster care. The red, white, and blue machine carried branding for her BE BEST and Fostering the Future initiatives. Trump unveiled the expanded effort during a Rose Garden event Thursday, August 20th. Photos and video soon spread across X, drawing praise for the first lady and her work.

The event paired Trump’s foster-care program with IndyCar and Fox Corporation days before the inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. President Donald Trump joined the first lady alongside racing officials, university representatives, and young people who had been in foster care. The money will establish scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University. Sunday’s race is part of the celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Melania Trump arrived wearing red and blue, matching the patriotic setting. “I heard you missed me. Here I am,” she joked as the crowd, including the president, laughed. She later turned toward the IndyCar and said, “Look at this incredible race car. Gorgeous and powerful.” Drivers also presented her with a custom helmet bearing her name and initiative logos.

A video shared on X by Link Lauren showed the first lady walking into the event with President Trump and posing beside the car. Lauren wrote that she was bringing together Fostering the Future and IndyCar “to expand opportunities for young people transitioning out of foster care.” He called it “a great cause” and “a very cool way to kick off Freedom 250 weekend in Washington.” Photographers crowded around as Trump smiled beside the vehicle.

The White House said the initiative now includes 26 colleges and universities. Its mission is to help young people from foster care earn degrees, begin careers, and achieve lasting financial independence. Melania also announced that Fostering the Future scholarships supported the education of the program’s first doctor this past spring. “He will change the lives of so many people,” she said.

The $2 million came in equal parts from Fox Corporation and IndyCar, with each pledging $1 million, according to Fox News. Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks and IndyCar President Doug Boles presented the checks, while Penske Corporation Chairman Roger Penske joined the announcement. Drivers Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, Scott McLaughlin, and Graham Rahal also attended.

The attention continued Friday when Ron Filipkowski shared another photo of Melania Trump beside the car. “Melania posts a photo before the IndyCar race in DC this weekend,” he wrote. The image gave X users another look at the first lady and the race car branded for the scholarship announcement.

X was abuzz with praise for Melania Trump and her work. One user wrote, “What a magnificent and beautiful First Lady Melania! Thank you for all that you do.” A fan account posted, “Our beautiful First Lady Melania at today’s Fostering the Future announcement.” Another user praised the scholarship expansion, writing, “Yes, congratulations @FLOTUS. Well deserved.”

She kept the event centered on the students who will receive the scholarships. “The greatest investment America can make is not in technology, infrastructure, or capital markets — it’s our children,” her prepared remarks stated. She described education as “the one asset that can never be taken away.” Trump added, “Tomorrow, thanks to visionary partners such as IndyCar and FOX, Fostering the Future graduates will build new companies, launch new industries, and redefine what is possible for all Americans.”
