Speaking with HBO’s Bill Maher on the “Overtime” segment of Maher’s “Real Time” show on HBO, political writer and commentator Andrew Sullivan explained that there is a “reason” that Biden’s attempted pardon of former NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci goes back to 2014, and that Fauci lied about the origins of Covid.
Mr. Sullivan’s comments, which were made on the Friday, March 21 broadcast of “Real Time,” came in the wake of President Donald Trump announcing that he would treat the last-minute pardons of Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, Dr. Fauci, and others completely null and void because they were made with an autopen and seemingly without former President Biden’s presence or knowledge.
In any case, speaking to Maher, Sullivan explained that the paper published in an attempt to dispel the claim that Covid originated as a lab leak was “a conscious lie” in which Dr. Fauci participated. He said, after noting that both British and German intelligence agencies appeared to know the truth about the virus’s origins, “[T]he core paper that killed off any idea that this was a lab leak in China, the Proximal Origin paper, which was produced with Fauci and Collins of the NIH and NIAID helping it along was a lie, a conscious lie.”
Continuing, Mr. Sullivan alleged that there are emails showing that many scientists supeced the virus to be manmade, saying, “The people who looked at it, we now have their emails, are saying in the very first days of looking at the virus, this looks very man-made to us.” He then asked the all important rhetorical question, saying, “The question is why? Why would they lie to us about that? And they did.”
That’s when he returned to the matter of Dr. Fauci and why Fauci’s pardon goes back a decade. He said, speaking about the matter, “This lab was a gain-of-function lab…this gain-of-function research was always dangerous. Everyone knew it was dangerous, a long time ago. … Do you know who was the biggest supporter of gain-of-function research for the last 30 years? Anthony Fauci. … There’s a reason he was given a pardon back to 2014. There is something very wrong going on here.”
Sullivan then gave Maher and the watching audience his take on why Fauci did what he did, explaining that the medical bureaucrat wanted to go down in history as a savior. Sullivan said, “he knew, from the get-go, that the Wuhan lab had security levels that were the average of a dentist’s office. They should have been at the highest level imaginable. He knew that. Not only that, NIH and NIAID had helped fund it. So, you don’t want to go down in history as the person who helped develop the virus that killed millions of people. You want to go down as the one who saved millions of people. That was at stake, a reputational matter.” Watch him here:

As a reminder, President Trump, sounding off on the pardons of Dr. Fauci and other while declaring them void, exploded over Biden’s use of an autopen. He said, beginning his announcement about that matter on Truth Social, “The “Pardons” that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen. In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them! The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden.”
He further explained, focusing mainly on the J6 Committee, “He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime. Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level. The fact is, they were probably responsible for the Documents that were signed on their behalf without the knowledge or consent of the Worst President in the History of our Country, Crooked Joe Biden!”
