Speaking during the debate on the floor of the House on Friday, December 20, that preceded a potential government shutdown averted only by a last-minute spending bill, far-left Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) went on the attack against “President Musk” for, she claimed, derailing a spending bill that the Uniparty agreed on.
In fact, Rep. DeLauro, who has been in office for decades, first coming to power in 1991, went on an angry tirade that involved shouting and yelling as she commented on the state of the government and spending within it, evidently furious will the power of Elon Musk to motivate Republicans to resist a Uniparty spending bill.
Rep. DeLauro, best known for her bright purple hair and generally far-left views on things, exclaimed that it was Musk to blame because he “scared” Republicans. She snapped, “We agreed on a bill, and you know what? They got scared because President Musk told them, President Musk said ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it, shut the government down.’”
Continuing, the Congresswoman who has been relying on a government salary, now $174,000, for decades got to yelling about the successful businessman not understanding the consequences of Congress being unable to agree to a suitable spending package, saying, “What does he know about what people go through when the government shuts down?”
Keeping up the furious yelling, she snapped, “Are his employees furloughed? Hell no! Is he furloughed? No! And when you shut the government down, people don’t get paid. And maybe if none of us got paid if the government got shut down, some people on the other side of the aisle would feel differently about where we’re going and this effort!”
Evidently worried about Musk more than wondering who is actually in charge of the Biden Administration, she added, “The world’s richest man, an unelected contractor reaping billions in government contracts, is calling the shots in the Republican Party. Who is in charge? At the behest of the world’s richest man, who no one voted for, the United States Congress has been thrown into pandemonium.”
She snapped, furious about the new bill, “We had a bill on Tuesday that was the result of a year and a half of work, and which had the input of Republicans and Democrats. Their interests, their concerns, the needs of their constituents. This bill had no such bipartisan input. We are considering it mere minutes after it was released.”
She added, “It removes key provisions to limit the power of pharmaceutical companies, and abandons our bipartisan efforts to ensure American dollars and intellectual property are reinvested in American businesses and workers, instead of fueling the Chinese Communist Party’s technology and capabilities. It includes a two year raise of the debt limit serves to allow Republicans to cut taxes on the ultrawealthy like Elon Musk and raise deficits on the backs of the American people.”
She further declared, decrying the end of Uniparty deal making and accusing Musk of being an oligarch, “We must immediately return to considering the bipartisan, bicameral compromise legislation that Speaker Johnson, Leader Schumer, Leader Jeffries, Leader McConnell, and the four corners of the Appropriations Committee reached earlier this week. We must unequivocally reject the illegitimate oligarchy that seeks to usurp the authority of the United States Congress and of the American people.”
