The New York Yankees were playing the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night at their home stadium, Yankee Stadium. The game also briefly turned to a pro-Trump event when a collection of fans unfurled a massive “Trump or Death” banner over the balcony as “God Bless America” played.
Videos soon emerged of the colossal flag being unfurled at the game, with the banner featuring Donald Trump’s death stare, text saying “Trump or Death,” a likely play on Patrick Henry’s famous “Liberty or Death” speech, and the years 1776 and 2024, representing America’s Declaration of Independence, and when Trump could once again be elected president, respectively.
Here are three different angles of the incident:

The flag was only visible for about a minute before being packed back up. The Yankees managed to eke out a victory in the game, winning by 4 to 3 against the Tigers, with the game seeing no other disruptions of note.
This is the second time in a week that a Trump flag was unfurled at a Yankees game in Yankee stadium. On Sunday, as the Yankees beat the Houston Astros 6 to 1, a flag reading “Finish the Wall – Trump 2024” was also unfurled over the balcony.
The Daily Mail noted that Dion Cini (tweet above) was responsible for the incident. Mr. Cini is a professional pro-Trump provocateur who made the “Trump or Death” flag famous in April when he displayed it outside Trump Tower during the former president’s April indictment in New York City at the hands of Alvin Bragg. Check that out here:

Mr. Cini raised eyebrows when describing what the flag is meant to mean, telling the members of the media who had gathered around him and the crowd of Trump supporters, “This is my new favorite flag. It doesn’t necessarily mean my death; it could mean your death.”
Mr. Cini also explained why there were not as many Trump supporters as hoped at the April protest, saying, “So far, as expected, there are too many journalists. There aren’t enough Trump supporters because they’ve been scared shitless of losing their jobs, losing their livelihoods, or having their picture put online and having their lives taken away from them.”
In his Twitter biography, Mr. Cini describes himself as a “Professional Provocateur” who has been “Banned from Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Studios NYC, Sea World, Sesame Place & Major League Baseball.”
He also runs a website called Trump Swag, which sells items such as the Trump or Death flag. Explaining his view of the flag in a tweet, Mr. Cini said, “I designed this flag as an homage to Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or give me Death” speech. Flag made media debut at 1st indicment (insurrection) because Trump stands for liberty. If you believe my flag to be more/less than a historical reference, is done so by your (uneducated) imagination.”
