Former CNN host Don Lemon recently reacted to the decision from Time magazine to designate President-elect Donald Trump as “Person of the Year,” a move that has sparked intense backlash from liberal detractors. Lemon questioned the move and argued that it was an offense to many Americans, particularly women.
Lemon began his monologue, “Now, if they wanted to make someone Person of the Year, they would have made someone who…My God, my God …. I’m sure he loves this, right? If they want to make someone Person of the Year, I don’t know they could have done it to with any person, people that they could have done to someone who actually stood for democracy, who stands for democracy in the country.”
“Now you think about what encompasses Person of the Year. Just because you are elected President of the United States does not mean that you should be Person of the Year,” Lemon continued, before calling out Time. “What Time Magazine? What are you doing? Let me ask you, Time Magazine. What do you say to the women who, I guess, still read Time magazine.”
Continuing to speak on behalf of women in America, many of whom voted for Trump, Lemon said, “For the women who are don’t they do like a whole time 100 thing or something, which you know? What about the women who are on that list? What about that? I’m sure some of them will have had dealt dealt with issues that women have to deal with, like discrimination in the workplace. SA all kinds of things.”
Making accusations about Trump, Lemon then said, “You have someone on the cover of your magazine who is an adjudicated assaulter. You have someone who inspired an insurrection. You have someone who, without a doubt the evidence is there, tried to overturn a free and fair election. You had someone who had multiple criminal counts and found guilty on multiple criminal counts.”
The American Tribune reported extensively on the news that Trump had been awarded “Person of the Year” after his monumental victory against Vice President Kamala Harris. In his interview with the magazine, Trump was asked, “Speaking of Kamala Harris. What do you think were her worst mistakes in the campaign?” He responded, claiming that Harris should never have been the Democratic nominee in the first place, claiming she was unqualified for the job. “Taking the assignment. Number one, because you have to know what you’re good at,” he said.
In another part of the interview, Trump explained how “flawless” his campaign won his the popular vote, every single swing state, and both chambers of Congress in what some have described as a mandate. “Well, I think we ran a flawless campaign. It was, it was really quite something. I called it 72 Days of Fury. There were no days off. There were no timeouts. If you made a mistake, it would be magnified at levels that nobody’s ever seen before. So you couldn’t make a mistake. And I think we just really ran well,” he said.
