Country music legend Dolly Parton released a video update concerning her Las Vegas residency, stating she would have to cancel the six-show event due to ongoing health issues. Parton, 80, shared the news in a post published on her social media accounts on May 4, 2026. Eight months earlier, the music superstar was forced to postpone the residency from December 2025 to September 2026.
“I have some good news and a little bad news,” Parton went on to say in her video. “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.” The cultural icon then delivered the “bad news,” saying “it’s gonna take a little while” before she feels “up to stage performance level,” so she decided to cancel the six-show “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas” event.
“I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get on to Vegas, and you have a big time… And I’ll see you somewhere down the line,” she told her followers. “I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that, and I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you.”
According to a report from Page Six, later in the video, Parton talked about the passing of her longtime husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 at 82. “A lot of you have been concerned about me and Carl, and you were so great about that,” she went on to say. “But after going through a year of firsts, I mean the holidays, and especially our wedding anniversary, and the date of his death, March 3, that was hard for me.”
The singer then said that she “will always love and miss” her late husband, going on to add that everyone’s “love and concern” has helped her get through the tragic loss. In the caption for the video, Parton thanked fans for “standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year. I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon.”
In September 2025, Parton was forced to pull out of a planned appearance at her theme park, Dollywood, due to suffering from kidney stones. In a video published at the time, the country music star said she was going to take her doctors’ advice and take time to rest and heal. “Don’t worry about me, I’m gonna be okay,” she told fans. “Just can’t do it today.”
Just a few short weeks later, Parton announced she was postponing the Las Vegas residency due to “health challenges.” She wrote in an Instagram caption, “My doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.” Parton then revealed that she would “still be able to work on all my projects from here in Nashville,” noting she needed “a little time to get the show ready.”

While not providing any details as to what kind of health issues she’s dealing with, Parton also had to miss out on her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry in January 2026. Parton, who made a pre-taped message, said, “I wish I could be there in person, but I’ll be sending you all my love, for sure.” She concluded by telling fans to “have the best night ever.”
