Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) made an appearance on Fox News host Jesse Watters’ television show where he dropped two bombs on viewers concerning the fate of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who suspended his gubernatorial campaign and announced he would resign from Congress following new allegations of sexual misconduct from at least four women.
Hawley was asked by Watters if he believed that what happened to Swalwell was due to the direct intervention of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). “Senator, we know Nancy put the hit out on Biden,” host Jesse Watters stated during the show. “You think she put the hit out on Swalwell?” Hawley replied in the affirmative.
“Absolutely, I have no doubt about it, Jesse, because he had become a liability. You pointed out, she knew all about this. She was briefed by the FBI back in 2020 that the guy was a target of a Chinese spy, Fang-Fang and by the way, Fang-Fang probably got a medal of commendation, that’s like the worst espionage assignment in the history of the world, but Swalwell fell for it,” Hawley said.
According to Fox News, the Missouri Republican then said that Pelosi likely believed that Swalwell was a liability to the Democratic Party and was using the knowledge of his crimes as leverage against him until everything came to light. “She knew he was a liability. She knew he was a problem. She could use it as leverage until it blew up in her face and now he’s gone.”
Hawley then dropped the other bomb, announcing he would be introducing a new bill that would prevent every member of Congress convicted of sex crimes from receiving their pensions. “And Jesse, this is why Congress needs to pass legislation, I’m introducing it today, that would deny pensions to every member of Congress who is convicted of a sex offense. Right now, you could be convicted and still get your pension,” he said.
He then added, “The only thing the government ought to be paying for, for people like Eric Swalwell is a jail cell.” Watters concluded the now viral video clip by saying, “Yes, that has got to be a voice vote. That has to be unanimous.” Popular conservative account LibsofTikTok shared the video on social media platform X and got quite a response.
One individual asked what will happen to the money Swalwell raised for his gubernatorial campaign. “What about his campaign money? He should lose that as well. Campaign money reform is as important as term limits. Election campaign money should fund Social Security never ceded to the individual under any circumstance, including retirement or death,” the user wrote.

Others commented that they didn’t think Swalwell would face any real consequences for his actions. “This sounds like a strongly worded letter to me. Nothing will happen. This will never even get beyond some dark hole committee, but nice press release,” one person said. “I’m not holding my breath. How many times have we seen ‘tough on crime’ bills get watered down or killed in committee?” Another replied.
