The Republicans are insisting that ICE will be fully funded and the SAVE America Act, which requires, amongst other things, that voting be in person and that voters show they are who they say they are with photo ID and proof of citizenship, will pass. Democrats remain exceedingly upset over those common-sense measures, and are insisting that using ICE to defend polling places from foreign interference is unacceptable, and that the SAVE America Act will disenfranchise millions.
Leading the charge on that front was Sen. Cory “Spartacus” Booker, who insisted that ensuring only American citizens vote would disenfranchise 10% of the electorate, or over 10 million people. He also insinuated that all of those who are so disenfranchised would vote left, which raises questions about fraud, non-citizen voting, and the Democratic Party.
In any case, Booker said, during an appearance on MS NOW’s Morning Joe, “Trump’s usually, usual bluster, he has again made this grand statement, ‘I’m not going to sign any bill that comes to me unless the SAVE Act comes to me first.’ The SAVE Act is a massive voter suppression bill that would make it very difficult for millions of Americans, especially women, who have changed their name, their name on their birth certificate no longer matches the name on their real ID or driver’s license, it would cause chaos to voting.”
Adding to that, Booker went on to bizarrely insist that ten percent of the electorate could be disenfranchised by the bill, saying it would “really shrink the voting rolls five or ten percent, given the effect it would have. I was talking to a retired, very moderate Senator yesterday. We were both laughing. Democrats should just be quiet.”
He then insisted that in-person voting and proof of citizenship is too much to ask because Alaska is a big place, saying, “Let somebody like Lisa Murkowski, who did a big chart, big state of Alaska, she put up in her speech and just showed what the SAVE Act would do to voters, making them have to hop on planes fly across her state, which is pretty vast, just to be able to present identification at the right place.”
Concluding, he insisted that stopping fraud was just making it more difficult for Americans to vote, saying, “We do not need voter suppression in the United States of America, and we do not need another scheme from Donald Trump, who’s still litigating his 2020 loss, another scheme by him that would make it more difficult for American citizens to vote at the polls.”

Similarly, Hakeem Jeffries was worried that sending ICE to watch polling places would harm the Democratic Party’s chances of electoral victory, insisting that the DHS needs to be shut down and its funding blocked until it stops trying to send ICE to “Sensitive locations,” by which he meant places where illegal aliens might be.
He began by insisting that Democrats are demanding “bold, “People. It’s the reason why we are in a DHS shutdown right now, because Republicans have refused to agree to the type of bold, transformative, meaningful and dramatic reforms we are demanding in order for the Department of Homeland Security funding bill to move forward.”
Continuing, he went into panic mode over the idea that illegal aliens would not be safe in schools or polling stations, saying, “And I won’t go through all of the demands, much of which we talked about repeatedly in the public. But one of those demands is keep ICE out of sensitive locations, and we have defined that as schools, houses of worship, hospitals, and polling sites.”
He then doubled down on the polling station point, clearly quite worried that ICE could arrest illegal alien voters and that that would harm Democrats’ chances of political victory, as there are no other reasons why ICE at polling stations would be an issue. He said, “We want an explicit prohibition that ICE can go nowhere near any polling sites in the United States of America.”
Journalist Kyle Becker, commenting about Jeffries and his freakout on X, said, “There you have it. Democrats won’t fund DHS/TSA until it’s clear ICE agents won’t show up at polling places to stop illegal aliens from voting. They might as well announce they’re cheating with a bullhorn.”
