Speaking in an angry tirade of an interview on CNN, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) tried to go on the attack against President Donald Trump by insulting ordinary Americans, saying that normal American citizens are so dumb and ignorant that they would be entirely unable to find Greenland on a map.
As background, Sen. Coons’s comments on the matter came when he spoke to Bash on her show, Inside Politics, on Monday, March 31, and was an unveiled attack on President Trump’s desire to buy Greenland from Denmark so that it can be used as a United States military base in the Arctic and the rare earth minerals can be extracted.
Yelling about Trump’s plan to buy the large island and thus obtain its strategic position and mineral wealth, both of which America could exploit far better than the Danes, Sen. Coons declared that the idea is “insane” and “ridiculous,” without addressing the potential benefits to America of taking the island.
Beginning, the angry senator attacked President Trump’s longtime negotiating practices. He snapped, “It’s just insane! That’s the problem, is that — you know, look, my Republican colleagues say, ‘Oh no, you know, he’s just negotiating. He just throws stuff out there,’ but he’s the president and he’s threatening a NATO ally with military action. It’s insane. It’s unmoored.”
Continuing, the berserk senator got to his line where he insulted average Americans, declaring that they don’t know where Greenland is. He said, “And we could spend all of our time huffing and puffing about how ridiculous it is, but look, your average Trump voter laughs at us and says, ‘He’s owning the libs’; and your average middle American says, ‘Why are you wasting your time worrying about Greenland? I can’t even find it on a map.’
Still not done, the supposedly American senator ranted and raved about how the feelings of the Canadians and Danes might be hurt by the idea, again ignored how the plan could help Americans. He snapped, “The challenge is that the Danes, our close NATO allies and partners, are angry, upset, and offended. So are the Canadians, the largest export and business partner from my home state and most home states.”
Concluding on that point, Sen. Coons started ranting about NATO, telling Bash, “So it does have consequences. He is threatening the NATO alliance. He’s threatening our closest allies. It does have real-world consequences, but we have to focus on the two issues that I said were the main issues for the Democratic Party and working Americans.” Watch him here:

Trump, as background, first broached the plan of buying Greenland in a pre-inauguration post on his Truth Social social media platform. Beginning the December 22 post, he said, “I am pleased to announce Ken Howery as my choice for United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark. Ken is a World renowned entrepreneur, investor, and public servant, who served our Nation brilliantly during my First Term as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, where he led efforts to increase Defense, Security, and Economic Cooperation between our Countries.”
Continuing, the now-president added that American leadership would bring dynamism and innovation to the island, writing, “As a Co-Founder of PayPal and venture capital fund, Founders Fund, Ken turned American Innovation and Tech leadership into Global success stories, and that experience will be invaluable in representing us abroad. For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. Ken will do a wonderful job in representing the interests of the United States. Thank you Ken, and congratulations!”
