At a recent hearing in the House Security Committee on the financial costs of the Biden Administration’s handling of the situation at the border, a pair of Democrats dropped jaws with their comments on illegal immigrants and American citizens, dismissing the economic impact Americans have and claiming illegal immigrants are integral to the American system.
The hearing was held to “examine the financial cost of the historic national security and humanitarian crisis at the Southwest border for border communities and cities across the country, and how President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ open-border policies have sparked massive misuse and waste of taxpayer dollars. This hearing launches the fourth phase of the Committee’s oversight investigation into the border crisis.”
One of those Democrats was Rep. Delia Ramirez, a representative from Illinois who was born in Chicago to illegal immigrant parents. Commenting on the situation, she said, “One day without [illegal] immigrants, you don’t eat.”
Continuing, she lambasted Republicans for complaining about the heavy cost of illegal immigrants on the American taxpayer, saying that they really should be grateful for the work illegal immigrants do. She said, “One day without immigrants, our economy collapses … [Congress talks] about how much they’re costing us.”
Giving supposed examples of that, she said, “Here’s the thing. Work permits, immigration reform, and the adequate visa so that people don’t have to come here illegally — these are all solutions that work to make this country the country of the American Dream, the country of freedom, and the country of the future.“
She wasn’t the only one to participate in the pro-illegal immigrant rhetoric. Joining in was Rep. Robert Garcia, a Peruvian-born illegal immigrant, brought to America by his parents illegally as a youth. He, predictably, declared, “The reality is that the [foreign-born] labor force is essential to economic growth.”
Continuing, he made much the same claim as Rep. Ramirez, which is that immigrants “outperform” American citizens and so are more valuable. He said, “I know that we’re talking about the financial costs of immigrants, and I think it’s very clear that immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers outperform American citizens, even today as it relates to business growth, GDP, and economic and economic output …. We should continue to be a nation built on immigrants because it’s good for the American economy.”
The committee, for its part, found, “The testimony of Mr. Lines and Mr. Borelli, whose communities have been deeply impacted by the unprecedented flood of illegal aliens across the Southwest border under Secretary Mayorkas’ policies, confirmed that those open-border policies have burdened the American people with an overwhelming cost. As this crisis continues, border communities are dealing with emergency resources being stretched thin, from hospitals to 911 call centers, as they provide care to illegal aliens in addition to the citizens of their communities. Communities have had to deal with an influx of new school-aged children, many of whom require special attention due to limited proficiency in English or other needs. Federal, state, and local law enforcement officers have had to spend increasingly scarce resources on dealing with the consequences of illegal immigration in their communities. America’s farmers and ranchers have also been forced to bear the cost of incalculable damage caused by illegal aliens trespassing on their property. Border wall materials that were bought and paid for by Congress have been left lying in the desert by this administration, another massive waste of tax dollars.” Watch that here:
