In yet another bizarre and infuriating moment out of the Congressional Democrats, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) interrupted and snapped about an obscure rule in an attempt to shut down the key testimony, when informed of the fact that Democratic rhetoric is responsible for the massive uptick in attacks on ICE officers.
In the incident, Oversight Project President Mike Howell exposed how it is Democratic rhetoric that has stirred up immense amounts of violence against ICE officers, with agents having seen a more than 830% uptick in attacks on them in recent months, as they try to crack down on illegal immigration across America, particularly in our sanctuary cities.
The matter began with Mr. Powell thanking the panel for giving him an opportunity to plead with the Democrats to stop stirring up violence against ICE agents, saying, “Thank you for giving me a platform to plead with members of this body on the Democrat side to stand down on their threats against the men and women of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
Continuing, he called out those in the Democratic Party who have pushed bloody and irresponsible rhetoric about the situation inside South Africa. He said, “The violence is getting out of control, and it is fueled by the demagoguery of politicians, whether it is one of your members telling Axios that there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public another saying civility isn’t working, and to prepare for violence, or even a member of this committee being arrested for forcibly impeding and interfering with federal officials.”
Then, bringing the cold, hard facts about what is going on, saying, “This escalation deserves condemnation. It needs to stop, and it needs to stop now. Assaults against ICE officers are up over 830% and that’s a low-ball estimate. There have been violent incidents in Alvarado…”
That is when Rep. Bennie Thompson chimed in and snapped that Mr. Howell had to keep quiet because his testimony on how Democrats are clearly stirring up violence against ICE agents is “outside the scope” of a hearing on exactly that, saying, “So I got a point of order pursuant to clause 2(K)(8), I raise a point of order that this testimony is outside the scope of the hearing.”
Entertainingly, Rep. Thompson’s procedural stunt totally failed, getting shut down immediately by the committee chairman, and Mr. Howell managed to continue his testimony after the motion. Rep. Thompson, furious about his motion getting shut down, snapped, “I would object to that position. Mr. Chairman, that’s absurd.”

Predictably, Thompson’s stunt led to an outcry from conservatives on X, with Townhall, for example, posting, “WOAH: Democrat Bennie Thompson just threw a FIT when Republican witness pointed out how Democrat rhetoric has led to an 800% increase in assaults against ICE agents. He tried to stop the hearing!”
