When President Donald Trump first took office in January 2025 for the start of his second term, he started operations to vigorously enforce immigration law, which is the responsibility of the executive branch. Ever since then, we’ve witnessed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ripping through the country and nabbing criminal illegal aliens and shipping them back to their countries of origin, making the U.S. safer than it has been in decades.
However, despite President Trump operating within his purview and lawfully deploying federal immigration authorities to help pursue the goal of enforcing immigration law, there has been no shortage of left-wing detractors who have adopted the protest slogan: “Abolish ICE.” However, for one congresswoman from Illinois, that simply does not go far enough.
Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) is getting slammed and ripped apart — metaphorically speaking — for demanding not just an end to ICE, but to its parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). A video clip is going viral on social media platform X, showing Ramirez not only making the call for DHS to be put through the wood chipper, but doing so in Spanish no less.
According to a report from WND, Ramirez vowed to bring DHS to an end so that “our people” will no longer “have to live in fear.” Presumably, when the congresswoman said “our people” she was referring to immigrants who have crossed the border without legal permission and have taken advantage of the good will and kindness of the American people by mooching off taxpayer funded welfare programs.
Users on X had a whole lot to say about the comments made by Ramirez. One individual commented, “Just my opinion. If you are more proud of another country than you are being an American you should really consider going to the country you are more proud of. I may get disappointed in my country from time to time, but I have never not been proud to be an American.”
Another person questioned Ramirez’s loyalties seeing as she herself is the daughter of an illegal immigrant mother. “This is a prime example why anchor babies like Delia Ramirez should be excluded from being able to serve in U.S. Congress or at any level of government. Her allegiance is not to USA citizens and this country, but she is proud to be Guatemalan. She admits her mom crossed illegally.”
Another user, “Eileen,” went on to ask one simple question: “Why are people who do not have loyalty to the U.S. and its sovereignty allowed to serve in Congress?” Ramirez is currently a lawmaker from the city of Chicago. She is planning to introduce a brand new piece of legislation that would completely dismantle the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and abolish ICE.

The taxpayer funding that currently goes toward paying for the invaluable services provided by DHS and ICE to keep our country safe from demented terrorists, rapists, and violent gang members, would then be redirected toward social services. It’s a similar “progressive” plan to that seen in big cities who adopt policies defunding police and hiring more social workers.
