PGA Tour superstar Bryson DeChambeau made himself a hero of many golf watchers online during the Sunday, May 19 day of the PGA Tournament at Louisville, Kentucky’s Valhalla Golf Club. That came when he, though likely frustrated as he was two shots down while on the ninth hole, tossed a ball to a young boy who was watching and called out an adult who tried to take it from him.
That incident occurred when he was done putting on the ninth hole and started walking to the tenth hole. Though thick in the middle of the competition, he was still in the present enough to notice the young boy who was excitedly watching him, and so he flipped a golf ball to the excited boy.Β But an adult fan snatched the ball from the boy.
Dechambeau wasn’t having it. Seeing what happened, he stalked over to the fan gallery and wielding his lengthy putter, pointed it at the adult and shouted,Β “HEY, HEY, HEY, HEY!” Another fan evidently saw what was going on and, turning to the ball-snatching adult, shouted, “Give that ball back!” The shamed adult did give it back to the boy, leading the fan to shout, “Man for the people!” at Dechambeau.
Commenting on a clip of the incident that went viral, garnering 12 million impressions as of the time this article was written, people said things like “Adults who compete with kids for memorabilia should be banned from sporting events for life” and “My dislike for Bryson just shrunk considerably for this.”
Others chimed in making fun of the adult who tried to steal the ball, making comments like “Lmao dude tried to run so fast. What a loser” and “Grown man should be ashamed of himself. Loooooser.” Still another said, “These grown up ball chasers are something else man. It’s just a ball bro, ain’t worth shit. But to that kid, it’s a memory of a lifetime. Don’t take that memory from them.”
Still another wrote, “can’t believe adults still do this, like why would they even compete with kids? let them have the time of their lives. this is going to be a core memory for them when they grow up.” Another added, “Class act!!!Glad he did that – the Creep who stole the ball from a little kid is a loser!!!Iβve seen that at baseball games & itβs so wrong. Glad he did that. Was a great π lesson. ππ€©π€©ππππ”

Another commenter described a similar incident that happened during a hockey match, saying, “I saw a hockey player drop a puck over the glass for a kid, some adult grabbed it and ran, the player then gave the kid a stick and another puck π” Yet another wrote, “I would have caught him before Bryson π―π―π―With bad intentions.. Donβt do little guys like that, his going to remember this moment for the rest of his life.”
