WATCH: Congressman Exposes How Gavin Newsom’s California is Spending “Hundreds of Billions” of Taxpayer Dollars on Welfare for Illegal Aliens

In a blistering public statement, Rep. Kevin Kilney (R-CA) excoriated California Governor Gavin Newsom for spending billions on Medicaid for illegal immigrants and highlighting the Democrats’ apparent hypocrisy.

For context, Gavin Newsom has been facing widespread condemnation since June 7, 2025, when violent mobs swamped the city of Los Angeles with dangerous riots. In addition to criticizing Newsom for his inability to maintain order, critics have identified a consistent pattern of mismanagement in every aspect of the California state government.

Taking to social media on February 26, 2025, Rep. Kilney said, “I am calling on Congress to protect Medicaid benefits for American citizens. California will spend hundreds of billions on Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants over the next decade. These funds could go to improve access to care for vulnerable Californians.”

Starting his epic rebuke, the California rep began, “Speaker, Mr. Speaker, today, I am calling on Congress to protect Medicaid benefits for American citizens. There are a number of states that are using taxpayer dollars to provide Medicaid to those who are in our country illegally, public funds that could have been spent providing care for their own citizens.”

Blasting the deep blue state, he said, “Worst of all is my own state of California, which became the first state in the nation, the only state in the nation, to provide free medical to every single person in the country, in our state illegally. It was recently revealed that this is costing California Taxpayers $9.5 billion this year alone. Now, right now, we’re talking about costs over a 10-year time horizon.”

Exposing the scandal, the Republican stated, “So let’s consider what that cost will be here. The cost is surely going to grow in terms of the year-over-year cost, given A, the rising cost of healthcare, and B, increased enrollment. When you’re the only state that’s offering this most generous benefit, it entices people to come to your state.”

Digging into the detials, Kilney added, “Indeed, that’s why it went up 46% this year, and it’s why last year, the San Diego border sector had the most illegal border crossings of any border sector in the country for the first time since the 1990s so when you factor in that $9.5 billion cost this year and the rate in which it’s going to grow year over year for the next decade,”

Explaining the scope of the waste, he said, “We’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars that are going to go towards providing Medicaid benefits to people who are in our country illegally, funds that could have gone towards improving access to care for the most vulnerable Californians.”

Concluding his epic rebuke, the Repblican said, “I think this is absolutely unacceptable, and for all of the folks who have been giving impassioned speeches about the importance of protecting Medicaid just joining our efforts to stop this joining my bill, the no Medicaid for illegal immigrants Act is an opportunity to do just that.”
