Delivering some powerful commentary, renowned conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly sharply criticized CNN host Erin Burnett for her sympathy toward the Chinese Communist Party. O’Reilly, known for his honest assessments, voiced shock and dismay at Burnett’s coverage, labeling it as dangerously misguided and reflective of a broader issue in American media.
O’Reilly’s comments came during a broadcast of News Nation on April 7th, in which the conservative commentator detailed his astonishment at the overly sympathetic remarks toward China. O’Reilly was disturbed, given China’s notorious record of economic misconduct and aggressive geopolitical ambitions, he then blamed the media for obsessive negativity toward President Trump and for preventing honest reporting about the genuine threat China represents.
Refusing to hold back, he sounded off on Burnett’s coverage of the Trump Administration’s tariff policy. He said, “Now at seven o’clock, I turned on CNN just because I wanted to get a wider look and reaction to what Trump did today, and the anchor at seven is a very smart woman. She’s an ideologue for the left, but she’s not a nut.”
Further highlighting precisely how China’s trade practices threaten U.S. national security, O’Reilly said, “To my shock, she was almost sympathizing with China. Let me tell you about China. They’re the worst cheaters on the planet. They steal. Every year, the United States sends $300 billion more to China than they send to us in trade, 300 billion. Ireland, with a population of 5 million, takes more US goods than China.”
Building upon that criticism, O’Reilly emphasized the colossal discrepancy between how America used to treat China’s goods and how it treated ours. He said, “China blocks US goods from coming into their country. So I don’t care whether they’re tariffs of 5,000%, it is a game of chess, but it’s more than that. It’s a throwdown.”
Further commenting upon the colossal trade treatment discrepancy, O’Reilly highlighted precisely how China’s trade practices threaten U.S. national security. He said, “We’ve had enough. You heard Trump say it, right? I you’re building your military tool. Yeah, you’re building your military off US dollars. We’re financing their military by the trade deficit. You’re building that military to a point where war will be inevitable because you are stockpiling weapons and men to an extent that you don’t need to be defensive. Trump knows this.”
Concluding his commentary with some of his harshest criticism, O’Reilly reveals the ugly truth about American media. He said, “I want to get back to the American media. They don’t know it because they hate Trump so much. They never report the truth. They never report the big picture. They never give you the danger of China, ever!”

Online commentary supported O’Reilly’s position, with many X users growing frustrated with media narratives. A post responded to the clip from News Nation, one such commenter said, “Bill O’Reilly isn’t holding back, and honestly, why should he? The media has been soft on China for too long, and it’s about time someone calls out the blatant hypocrisy. Erin Burnett trying to sympathize with China is a slap in the face to every American who’s suffered from their trade manipulation, intellectual property theft, and unfair practices.”
