Pop star Gwen Stefani recently partnered with the popular prayer app Hallow for its Pray25 Prayer Challenge during the season of Advent. In an advertisement, Stefani explained Advent and its purpose of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son who died to save anyone from sin who believes in Him.
Dressed in holiday colors and decorating her Christmas tree, Stefani said, “This season has always been my favorite time of the year. It’s a season that we get to celebrate the birth of our Lord. This year, I’m excited to share that I’ve partnered with this amazing prayer, meditation, and music app called Hallow on their twenty-five-day prayer challenge leading up to Christmas called Advent.”
Explaining the importance of prayer during the Christmas season and encouraging people to join Hallow, she continued, “Pray twenty-five join me and millions of other Christians around the world as we celebrate together, the truth that God so loved the world that He gave us his only son. Download Hallow and join me in praying every day. God bless the season as always.”
Despite her stardom as a celebrity, Stefani has always been a devout Catholic throughout her life, speaking openly about her faith. “For me the only way that I’ve gotten this far is with my spiritual faith and being able to take time out to pray. You see the miracles, and that’s inspiration and fuel to keep it going,” she said. Reportedly, Stefani has even led her husband Blake Shelton to further explore his own faith.
“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” Shelton said in an interview several years ago. “The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
Actor Mark Wahlberg has also been a major figure in promoting Hallow, which has become the number one prayer app. “It’s the largest Christian app in the world. It was number three on Apple’s free apps ahead of Google and TikTok and all of these things, Spotify, Netflix. I mean, people are thirsty for spiritual connection,” he said in a previous interview.
Explaining the demand for the app, he said, “They’re thirsty and hungry for comfort, and guidance and also companionship with one another. So it’s been amazing. You can tell, people are really hungry and they need spirituality in their lives. You can’t really have spirituality without religion, even though it’s been separated. You know, we all know that, it all goes hand-in-hand. We all need to encourage and support each other.”
