Speaking at the Benedictine College commencement ceremony, the star kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, Harrison Butker, called out President Joe Biden and other pro-choice Catholics for their stance on abortion, which he argued is at odds with the Roman Catholic Church’s teachings. Butker is a faithful Christian who has spoken out about his faith and stance on abortion previously.
The recent speech was not the first time Butker called out Biden over his pro-choice stance. Previously, Butker spoke about wearing a tie with the slogan “Vulnerari Praesidio” on it when visiting the Biden White House after a Super Bowl win. That is a Latin phrase that translates to “Protect the most vulnerable.” Further, on the tie, Butker wore a pin that was the shape of an infant’s tiny feet. Both were intended to show his support for pro-life policies.
Speaking about why he felt the need to stand up for the unborn while in the Biden White House, Butker said that he felt called to use his appearance in a public, political space to take a stand for and make a message on behalf of the unborn. He said, “The unborn, to me, are the greatest victims of our society.” He continued, “They don’t have a voice. They don’t necessarily look like humans. They’re not very big. They can’t fight for themselves. There’s not a lot of people that are fighting for them.”
He then added that he sees the current state of abortion in America as being a “great atrocity” and framed it as “massacring the unborn.” He said, “And I just think it’s a great atrocity that’s occurring in this country with massacring the unborn. I felt like there’s no better place to send this message than to the masses and to represent the unborn at a place like the White House where, unfortunately, their voice is not heard.”
In any case, Butker spoke out about the issue again, saying, “Our own nation is led by a man who proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the Sign of The Cross during a pro-abortion rally.” He continued, “He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I’m sure to many people it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice.”
Butker then added that Biden isn’t alone in having such beliefs despite his supposed Catholic faith, saying, “He is not alone. From the man behind the COVID lockdowns, to the people pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America, they all have a glaring thing in common — they are Catholic. This is an important reminder that being Catholic alone doesn’t cut it.” He also said, “We need to stop pretending that the church of nice is a winning proposition.”

Butker also encouraged speaking the truth no matter what, while also explaining why people now keep the truth hidden, saying, “The world around us says that we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go against the tyranny of diversity, equity and inclusion. We fear speaking truth, because now, unfortunately, truth is in the minority.”
He added, “While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique. The bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.”
