Footage has recently circulated across social media showing a brutal fight breakout at a Chipotle, a restaurant chain that is not typically known for hosting chaotic fights. However, a dispute between a patron and an employee quickly got out of hand and violence ensued as customers watched in horror while attempting to order their bowls and burritos.
A customer recorded the incident farther down the line, where an unidentified woman and a Chipotle employee argued over an unspecified issue. As tensions flared, the two could be heard raising their voices at one another. The situation really escalated when an employee behind the counter appeared to launch a bowl of food at the irate customer’s face.
An employee could be seen walking to the end of the counter, picking up an object, seemingly to use as a projectile, as another employee attempted to restrain her. For a few seconds, the verbal bickering continued before the altercation turned physical. Out of nowhere, the female customer, clearly much larger and heavier in stature, charged the Chipotle employee like a defensive lineman hunting down a quarterback in the pocket.
The customer slammed the employee into the back wall with the sheer force of her body weight, knocking her to the ground. After overpowering the employee, the imposing customer sat on top of the woman, delivering multiple punches. Onlookers and fellow employees attempted to break up the fight, eventually dragging the woman off of the Chipotle worker.
After the two had been separated, the employee defiantly emerged from the kitchen floor after the barrage of punches she endured. As patrons stood passively with their phones out recording the incident, instead of taking substantive action to mitigate a violent assault before their eyes, shouting continued to occur in the restaurant before the video ended.
X users Malcom FleX uploaded the clip to social media, quipping that Chipotle is beginning to look like Waffle House, which is known for late night smackdowns occurring at its restaurants. “Chipotle must have started to recruit some of their fighting talent from the Waffle House fight clubs. Looking like they may be a contender for the Ultimate Fast Food Fighting Championship belt,” he wrote.
Malcom further commented, “Unfortunately, the first fight on this fight card was a Catchweight bout between a featherweight and a heavyweight.” He also said, “In case you can’t tell, while college football is nice, I am missing the fact that there are no UFC fight cards on tonight.” Watch the brutal incident at Chipotle below:
One user in the comments section lamented the impact of these violent incidents on the neighborhoods they plague. “The sad part of this story is that companies like Chipotle will just shut down this store in this “neighborhood“ eventually. It’s going to be literally nothing but pawn shops, liquor stores and smoke shops,” they wrote. Another added, “People don’t realize that working in a fast food joint in the inner city could be life or death if you merely forget a sauce or dare to charge for an extra sauce.”
