WATCH: CBS News Personality Fights Back Tears Live on Air When Discussing Trump Election Win

Across the mainstream media, Hollywood celebrities and pundits have not handled Donald Trump’s landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.  CBS News reporter John Dickerson recently sat down with late-night host Stephen Colbert where he appeared to fight back tears at the prospect of President-elect Donald Trump returning to the White House.

Many critics have blamed the mainstream media for touting inflammatory rhetoric that has convinced millions of Americans that the incoming president will be a dictator and threaten the rights of citizens.  As a result, many are struggling to cope with the results of the election, where they genuinely believe the future of America was jeopardized.

During a clip of the interview, Colbert asked, “How do you explain that to a 14-year-old today? How would you explain this election?” Dickerson answered, “I’ll try not to think about my boys, because…” getting choked up in his response. Emotions have been high across the mainstream media as many continue to subscribe to the narrative that Trump will be an authoritative leader and rights are at stake.

Users on social media reacted to the clip from the interview, drawing broader implications about the mainstream media and its alleged bias.  “At some point, the owners of these media outlets will need to wake up and return to reality. Their programming only gets views when chopped up and shared for ridicule by new media,” one person wrote.

Others maintained that no one should feel sorry for the media given the hostile narrative they have pushed toward former President Trump and his base of supporters in recent years.  “Zero sympathy for journalists who sat in their bubbles and slandered half of America. No one on X was surprised by this election,” one user said.

Another person outright suggested CBS’ reporting lacks journalistic integrity.  “Can we remove “News” from CBS at this point. ? Seriously – If Kamala won, I would be in the same shape I was in for 2020. Not too dissimilar to him but for Liberty and not for Tyranny. He is upset Tyranny didn’t rule based on their ‘reporting'” they said.

The American Tribune recently reported on similar emotional reactions from “The View,” where the co-hosts expressed their deep concerns about America’s future under a second Trump administration.  “I’m profoundly disturbed. I think if you look at the New York Times this morning, the headline was ‘America makes a perilous choice,’” co-host Sunny Hostin said during a recent segment.

“I think that in 2016, we didn’t know what we would get from a Trump administration, but we know now. And we know now that he will have almost unfettered power,” she added.  Hostin suggested that Trump should have been barred from running for office after January 6. “I’m profoundly disturbed that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution did not prevent someone who participated in an insurrection from becoming President of the United States.”

Hostin further lamented, “I’m surprised at the results, but I’m not surprised as a woman of color, I was so hopeful that a mixed race woman married to a Jewish guy could be elected president of this country, and I think that it had nothing to do with policy. I think this was a referendum of cultural resentment in this country.”
