Border czar Tom Homan recently shut down CNN host Dana Bash, who tried to trap him with a question about New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Bash inquired if Homan would support the Department of Justice reopening its investigation of Adams if the mayor did not support the Trump administration’s deportation efforts, seemingly implying a quid pro quo deal.
Homan responded, maintaining that he is only focused on staying in his “lane” and carrying out his mission to remove public safety threats from communities across the United States. Skirting the question about his opinion toward the investigation, Homan said he is leaving that legal matter up to the Justice Department and will not interfere.
“What is your promise sir?” Bash asked Homan. “My promise is I’m not going to ask those officers to be immigration officers. I’m not going to push them to enforce immigration law. I told him, I want to arrest the bad guy. I want to arrest the public safety threats. I want to get Reiker’s Island so we can get the public safety threat before they’re released to the street,” he said.
The border czar continued, “I want his help, especially NYPD Intelligence Unit, who is the finest intelligence apparatus in the world to help me find missing children… Many are in forced labor, many of them in forced sex trafficking. Not all of them, but many of them. And that’s a promise I made to him. Do you do law enforcement stuff? Help me get the public safety to attend children? I’m never going to ask you to arrest an Illinois and that’s my promise not to make them immigration officers or make them cops working with cops.”
Bash pressed Homan, “So if he doesn’t do the things that you want him to do, would you be okay with DOJ reopening its investigation into him? Should they do that?” Homan then said, “That’s out of my lane. I’m a border, so I care about the border, so let DOJ do what they do. I care about moving public safety dress from the country. That’s what President Trump’s promised the American people.”
The American Tribune reported on another recent instance of Homan defending his deportation agenda during a live interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. The journalist said, “What we had heard from immigration advocates is that this is going to provide a chilling effect to parents and the school drop offline or something of that matter.” Homan responded, “It should be a chilling effect. Unless your child is a terrorist or a public safety threat.”
He added, “If they are a public safety threat and national security threat, they should be chilled. They should be afraid, because we’re looking for them.” Collins followed up, “If their parent is here and they’re an undocumented immigrant, I think was, was more of the argument that they were making.”

Homan maitnained that anyone who broke the law to enter the United States and liver here unlawfully is liable to be deported. “They’re not off the table either. If you live in the country illegally, they got a problem. I mean, it’s not okay, to enter this country illegally,” he said. Watch Homan and Collins below:
