Deeply embarrassing bodycam footage from the Newport Police Department shows Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan berating officers during her August 14, 2025, arrest for trespassing. In the chaotic video, Flanagan repeatedly screamed “I’m an AG!” and threatened officers, saying that they would “regret” arresting her
For context, the unhinged AG asked officers to turn off their cameras, but one officer dismissed her claims, proclaiming “I don’t give a s—.” While no discipline has been announced by the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, an investigation has been launched.
In any case, Devon Flanagan began her disgraceful actions by screaming, “I’m an AG! I’m an AG!” as the police started to arrest her. Still not done, she turned to threatening the officers, saying, “You’re going to regret this. You’re going to regret it. I’m an A-” However, one of the responding officers quipped, “Good for you, I don’t give a s—.”
Continuing to embarrass herself, Flanagan added, “I want you to turn your body-camera off. Protocol is that you turn it off. It’s a citizen request to turn it off.” Another woman, who seems to be an associate of the Special Assistant Attorney General, argued, “She knows, she’s a lawyer. She’s a f—ing lawyer.”
In any case, Megan Skinner, Attorney General’s Office Spokesperson, issued a statement summarizing the details of the case. She stated, “On the evening of Aug. 14, the Office of the Attorney General learned that members of the Newport Police Department arrested Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan for trespassing.”
Continuing the same statement read, “The Office immediately began a review of the incident, which we anticipate will conclude within the next few days. At this time, we are unable to comment further on this matter as it relates to personnel issues.”
Unfortunately, Devon Flanagan is far from the only politician to face arrest under embarrassing circumstances. As we reported, Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell was recorded admitting to breaking into her stepmother’s home, allegedly to steal her late father’s mementos. Reacting to the case, Prosecutor Brian McDonald noted that she had been “caught red-handed.” Ultimately, she was convicted of felony burglary and possession of burglary tools, leading to her resignation

Describing the case, the prosecutor noted that “Sen. Mitchell was caught red-handed.” Building out his point, McDonald added, “This case won’t be about speculation. It won’t be about trying to read between any lines.”
Continuing his demolition, the attorney described how, “[The case] will be about what the defendant did, what she admitted to, and what you will see and hear with your own eyes and ears. No amount of grief or frustration can justify a home burglary. Do not get distracted.”

However, taking another view of the case, Bruce Ringstrom Jr., the state senator’s legal representative, argued, “[Nicole Mitchell is] a person who always gets things done. Her persistence can be counted on. So when problems come up in the family, she takes the initiative to fix those problems. What matters for burglary is that they got in without permission and they intended to commit a crime inside the building.”
