In an absolutely infuriating video release on Wednesday, November 26, the day before Thanksgiving, Oregon Attorney General is Dan Rayfield announced that he was suing the Trump Administration to try and block President Trump from cutting off food stamp benefits to illegal aliens.
As background, the Trump Administration has been trying to make America less hospitable to encourage them to voluntarily self-deport, and one means by which it is trying to get illegal aliens to leave, while also saving money for American taxpayers, is by cutting welfare benefits that had been going to them.
One such form of public assistance that had been going to illegal aliens is food stamps. The Trump Administration announced, however, that it would be cutting that off. In fact, to cut illegals and other fraudsters off from the programs, it is forcing everyone on SNAP to reapply, hoping that weeds out some of the fraud.
Now, Oregon is suing in an attempt to keep those benefits intact for illegals, despite Democrats having previously claimed that illegal aliens are not able to access food stamps. The Oregon AG began the video announcing the suit by saying, “It’s wild and absolutely stupid that we have to be here today, a day before Thanksgiving. We’re one of the most wealthy countries in the world, and no one should go hungry in America.”
Continuing, he pretended like the state had been in shock that illegals were being cut off from public benefits, saying, “When this came out, I think a lot of us were thinking, this has to be a mistake. These are lawful residents. The law is incredibly clear. Why would the USDA be yanking food benefits away from people? Because we actually, genuinely thought this could be a mistake.”
He then added, “A letter was sent earlier this month, no response was received, and that’s why the lawsuit is being filed here today. It’s that simple. If you’re an asylum seeker, if you’re here as a refugee, if you’re here as a lawful resident, if you’re here in the United States because of a humanitarian purpose. We should never yank people’s food benefits away under these circumstances.”
Concluding, he said, “We expect, just like in our other suits, to be incredibly successful, proud, to be a lead in this lawsuit being filed in Eugene. The hope is that we’ll have a preliminary injunction filed a little bit later today, so that we can get in front of a judge as quickly as possible to make sure that we can get this food assistance flowing again.”

Predictably, that led to immense backlash from conservatives, particularly on X. The Libs of TikTok account, for example, wrote, “JUST IN: Oregon Attorney General is suing the Trump admin because they cut SNAP benefits for noncitizens and are cracking down on fraud But Democrats insisted for months that noncitizens weren’t getting taxpayer funded benefits…. Now they’re suing to make sure they do. Unreal”
