Conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly recently weighed in on ABC’s “The View,” explaining how the show might need to be overhauled after it has descended into negativity and liberal bias. O’Reilly made the comments during a recent appearance on fitness guru Jillian Michaels’ podcast “Keeping it Real,” where the two discussed the state of the mainstream media.
As the two discussed the apparent propaganda and toxicity that has come out of legacy media outlets, Michaels called out the ABC talk show, stating, “I gotta tell you, when I watch “The View,” it is nothing but propaganda and vitriol that.” O’Reilly claimed, “That has hurt ABC News because ABC News controls “The View.”
Explaining how the show has drastically changed, the former Fox News host continued, “So I’ve been on “The View” 20 times, but that was when Barbara Walters was there. Okay, and that hatred didn’t exist. No, you still had Behar and Whoopi. You had them, but they were kind of not censored, but there was a different feel to it. Now your head’s going to blow off, and they only have 2 million people watching them. Why does ABC News want to ruin their brand by this?”
As a result, O’Reilly opined that Disney, who owns ABC News, will have to step in on and restructure “The View” in light of the supposed damage it is inflicting on the network’s brand reputation. “So Disney’s going to have to take “The View” over. That will happen pretty soon,” he said. Michaels questioned why the show doesn’t add a greater diversity of viewpoints as it was originally intended to do.
“I mean, the view was intended to be a show with differing points of view, and now they are just completely captured,” she said. “One message only, can never admit when something’s wrong.” Calling out the show’s reaction to the Hunter Biden pardon, she continued, “So, for example, Biden just pardoned his son. He said he wouldn’t do it, and it’s like, ‘I can’t believe you guys are clutching your pearls, only a good father would do that.’ And it’s not that anyone’s clutching their pearls, it’s the fact that you have jumped down Trump’s throat for doing things of a similar nature, acting as though you’re the better people and you’re the better party.
Michales blasted the apparent hypocrisy adding, “And it’s the hypocrisy It’s like, can’t you just admit they’re all kind of gangsters, all politicians are gangsters, but they don’t admit it, and it’s exactly that that makes you go, all right, can’t trust anything. You guys say, forget it. But you know is, do you think that’s why the Washington Post didn’t endorse a candidate this year?”
O’Reilly added that he has known many of the personalities on “The View,” such as Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar for decades, applauding their characters. However, he noted that, as a result of living in the liberal echo chamber that is New York City, they have become resistant to tolerating differing view points that contradict the acceptable Democratic narrative.
Watch the interview below:
“I don’t think Whoopi’s a bad person. I mean, God, I must have known Whoopi Goldberg for 30 years, and I’ve seen her do tremendous acts of kindness. But it’s all about emotion. For the ladies, they live in a giant New York City emotion bubble, and living in a bubble is not good for anybody. And so they hear, every time, every place, what they want to hear. They believe what they want to believe. And it’s a comfort zone. It’s kind of like a little tranquilizer now. Yeah, they live in liberal world, and they don’t want to get out because O’Reilly walks in. And then, oh my bubble is going to get pop, I don’t want the bubble to get popped, and that’s what it’s all about.
