President Joe Biden traveled to Wisconsin to deliver a speech on “lowering costs for Americans.” Throughout the Biden administration, one of the biggest pain points for Americans has been the abysmal state of the economy and historically high inflation that has devoured household budgets.
However, Biden’s attempt to communicate his remarks during the short, 14-minute speech featured moments that highlighted the president’s elderly age and concerns about his physical and mental state. Several times, Biden stumbled over his words while appearing to be reading directly off of a teleprompter, seemingly failing to string sentences naturally.
Conservative X account Citizen Free Press posted a clip of Biden’s speech to X, speculating, “The teleprompter has defeated Biden again. The man cannot complete sentences.” Users on social media commented in agreement with this assertion.
“Folks!” Biden emphatically started the sentence in the clip. “I will never stop to deliver student debt relief,” he said. However, it seems as if Biden was supposed to pause there with a period, but he kept barreling on through the next sentence, “and hard-working Americans.”
The overarching theme of Biden’s message centered around “Canceling Student Debt” as a sign placed behind the president read. Reports indicate that Biden is attempting to signal to younger audiences, promoting “life-changing” student loan relief, despite his latest cancelation plan being shot down by the Supreme Court.
“Even when they work hard and pay their student loans, their debt increases and not diminishes,” he said. “Too many people feel the strain and stress, wondering if they can get married, have their first child, start a family, because even if they get by, they still have this crushing, crushing debt.”
Biden further depicted the economic struggle many Americans face, claiming the best solution lies in the mass cancelation of student debt and passing the burden onto the taxpayer, who had no role in the acquisition of said debt.
“It’s a drag on our local economies… When you can’t afford to buy a home, start that small business, chase that career that you’ve been dreaming about for a long time. That’s why early in my term, I announced a major plan to provide more than 40 million working middle-class American student debt relief,” Biden said.
The president then shifted the blame to Republicans and the nation’s highest court, who he slammed for impeding his student debt cancelation efforts. Biden then outlined how his administration will pursue different avenues to attain the goal of the debt relief.
“Tens of millions of people’s debt was literally about to get canceled. But then some of my Republican friends elected officials and special interest sued us, and the Supreme Court blocked this. But that didn’t. That didn’t stop us. I mean, it’s necessary we continue to find alternatives paths to reduce student debt. That are not challengeable. And all together my administration is taking the most significant action to provide student debt relief ever in the history of this country,” he added.
