During a recent press briefing, President Joe Biden displayed more concerning signs of his age and declining cognitive state as he scanned the room with a slight grin as reporters hurled questions at him. As Biden was seemingly unable to manage the situation, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre had to step in to control the crowd.
Sharing footage of the incident during the press conference, RNC Research, an account on X run by the Republican National Committee, commented, “Americans are in crisis, but Biden has absolutely no idea where he is. Kamala covered it up and lied about it. Who is running the country?” Other users on social media reacted to the clip and its implications.
Conservative commentator Greg Price said, “Reporters yell questions at Joe Biden, who looks completely dead inside, as Karine Jean-Pierre desperately tries to get them to stop. This is insane.” Another person added, “It’s tough to watch moments like that. The pressure must be intense, but it’s not a good look when things get so chaotic and out of control.”
One user criticized Biden for not directing enough attention to the victims of Hurricane Helene. “Meanwhile, he never mentioned anything about the hurricane victims. Earlier, someone asked him the status of the storm devastation, and he replied what storm? Then he said the people there are getting everything they need and are happy,” one person said.
Examining the apparent state of Biden’s mental health, another person weighed in, “He couldn’t handle the cacophony of sound. People with dementia are unable to process certain sounds and interpret what they hear accurately. It gets progressively worse as the disease progresses.”
Biden’s age and health have been controversial topics for American voters, who have observed signs of impaired function throughout his term. However, after the president’s poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump in late June, Biden faced calls from within his party to drop out of the race and pass the torch before doing so several weeks later.
The American Tribune initially reported on Biden withdrawing from the 2024 race in a significant shakeup to the 2024 election. “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
Biden further stated, “For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me. I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can’t do – when we do it together. We just have to remember we are the United States of America.”
