Speaking during his utter trainwreck of an appearance on ABC’s “The View,” former President Joe Biden rambled about former VP Kamala Harris’s defeat, alleging that the reason for her loss wasn’t her off-putting manner or horrid policies, but rather that the American people remain dominated by sexism and racism.
That came when “The View” co-host Sara Haines asked former President Biden about the crushing defeat Harris suffered in November, pressing him on whether he was surprised that Harris managed to lose the race despite the seemingly quite hearty optimism many Democrats had about her candidacy.
Responding, former President Biden told her that the Republicans took the “sexist route” to beat her and the American people bought it, blaming that for her major defeat and making him unsurprised. He said, “I wasn’t surprised, not because I didn’t think she was qualified. She is. I was surprised because it went the sexist route.”
Continuing, Biden reiterated the sexism point and then suggested that her mixed-race status was also used against her, saying, “This is a woman, she’s this she did I’ve never seen quite a successful and consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t run the country, and a woman of mixed race.”
It then became unclear whether the president was joking about the claim that racism, sexism, or both were to blame for Kamala’s crushing loss, as he said “all kidding aside” when demanding the co-hosts and viewers think about the race. He said, “Anyway, make a long story short, all kidding aside, think about it.”
Biden then insisted that “democracy” lost with President Trump’s electoral victory, saying, “Liberal democracies lost last time out, all across America. I think we underestimate the phenomenal negative impact that COVID had, and the pandemic had on people, on attitudes, on optimism, on a whole range of things.”
Concluding, he insisted that he wasn’t surprised by the loss, but was surprised by the supposed vitriol directed Kamala’s way by the Trump campaign. He said, “So I was very disappointed and – but I wasn’t surprised. The only thing that surprised me was the excess to which they’ve gone in some of the attacks they’ve made.”

Those comments came after Biden insisted, even more absurdly, that he would have won the election had he stayed in the race. Alyssa Farah Griffin kicked that off by asking him, “Well, Mr. President, you had previously said you thought that you would have won. Since then Donald Trump won all the battleground states and made inroads to every demographic toworking class voters to hispanic men, to black men. Knowing what you know now do you think you would have beat him.”
He told her, “Yeah, he still got seven million fewer votes — a lot of people didn’t show up — No. 1. No. 2, they were very close in those toss-up states, it was — it wasn’t a slam dunk, and so, look, you know, every time I’ve been on the show, which I’ve been fortunate to be on more than once, thanks for having me, is that we talk — you guys don’t focus on as much and I think it’s good, on polling numbers, but let me put it this way: He’s had the worst 100 days any president’s ever had.”
