Footage was shared to social media earlier in the summer, showing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris being heckled by anti-Israeli protestors. While Biden was speaking to a crowd of supporters, an unseen individual in the audience began to shout at the administration for their stance in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East began following the October 7, 2023, attack against Israel, which left approximately 1,200 people dead, including 46 Americans. Ever since, the Democratic Party has been divided on the issue, with a substantial portion of supporter siding with Palestine. Biden and Harris have been continually met with similar protests during other public events.
As a result, the Israel-Hamas conflict has forced Kamala Harris to walk a tightrope and appeal to both sides. Harris previously stated, “Let me be clear, I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself,” before adding, “At the same time what has happened in Gaza in the past 10 months is devastating. So many innocent lives lost. The scale of suffering is heartbreaking.”
The American Tribune recently reported on other controversy in the current administration, where President Biden has seemingly undermined Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign in several instances. While speaking about the Hurricane response, Bide praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, contradicting talking points from Harris who claimed he was putting politics over the concerns of Florida residents.
“You know, moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says they’re going to put politics aside and put the people first. People are in desperate need of support right now,” Harris said. “And playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations, these are the height of emergency situations, is just utterly irresponsible and it is selfish.” The vice president then said, “And it is about political gamesmanship instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first.”
However, President Biden claimed, “The governor of Florida has been cooperative. He said he’s gotten all that he needs. I talked to him again yesterday, and I said – no – you’re doing a great job, it’s all being done well and we thank you for it.” He added, “There was a rough start in some places, but every governor – from Florida to North Carolina – has been fully cooperative and supportive.”
In another instance President Biden indicated that Vice President Harris has been an integral part of his administration, in which he has delegated substantial power and responsibility. This seemingly defeats a defensive argument deployed by Harris that she isn’t responsible for the leadership failures of the Biden administration.

A reporter asked Biden recently, “There obviously been a number of crises been facing over the past several days with the hurricane. There have obviously been a number of crises that the country has been facing over the past several days with the hurricane, with the port strike, with the situation in the Middle East. Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises, and what role she has played over the past several days?”
Biden replied, “Well, she’s, I’m in constant contact with her. She’s aware where we all were singing from the same song sheet. We she helped pass all the laws that are being employed now. She was a major player in everything we’ve done, including passage of legislation, which we were told we could never pass, And so she’s been, and her her staff is interlocked with mine, in terms of all the things we’re doing.”
