Speaking in a recent episode of his “James Carville Explains” on Monday, June 24, woke commentator and Democratic strategist James Carville claimed that Trump will, if he manages to win the 2024 election in November, replace Supreme Court Justices and turn the United States “into a theocracy” with a conservative Supreme Court’s rulings.
As background, a theocracy is, according to the Oxford dictionary, “a system of government in which priests rule in the name of God or a god.” It is not a system in which judges on a court occasionally stop some of the worst excesses of a far-left society with relatively moderate rulings that might be commensurate with the religious beliefs of much of the country.
In any case, Carville claimed during the Monday episode that if Sotomayor retires, as some Democrats hope she will so that the seat can be filled with a more youthful nominee in the thought that Biden could appoint her replacement, Trump could win and appoint a nominee of his own. He said that such an incident would result in a complete loss of “religious freedom” and lead to “theocracy.”
Carville said, in his hysteric comments, “I can assure you, if Trump wins and he names a replacement for Sotomayor, it’s game, set, match.” He continued, “There’s no more Constitution, there’s no more religious freedom. We’re now going to officially move into a theocracy … I hear young people say, ‘well I don’t feel like I have a stake in this.’ Well. you got a hell of a stake coming up.”
He then said, referencing Lousiana’s decision to mandate the 10 Commandments in classrooms, “So let’s everybody remember what’s really really at stake here. What this is really really about. And it’s about imposing a theocracy on other people and the fools and tools that are being used for this opening salvo, this Fort Sumter, Pearl Harbor, whatever you want to call. It is in Louisiana and they’re being exploited by people who really have, which I think is an odious and insidious agenda for the United States of America. So let’s fight this thing like our country depended on it because it does.”

James Carville also recently claimed that media outlets should engage in biased coverage to keep Trump out of office. He said, “So this is the basic question. People say Trump is going to be the Republican nominee and we got to cover it, and Biden’s the Democratic nominee and we cover this. And if there’s something bad about Biden, of course, we’ve got to print it. But if something comes up that is, can’t say good about Trump but more favorable to him, like the Elie Honigs and the Fareed Zakarias of the world, that’s one way to look at it. We just tell the truth and let the people decide. Or, at times when the country is in great peril or the moral imperative is so significant, you don’t do that.”
He continued, “Now you have Joe Kahn, the new editor or publisher, whatever he is at The New York Times, saying, ‘We’re just going to cover this down the middle. We’re going to cover what it is.’ I don’t think that’s the role of the news media at a time when the entire Constitution is in peril. I don’t have anything against slanted coverage. I really don’t … I would have something against it at most other times in American history, but not right now. Fuck your objectivity. The real objectivity in this country right now is we’re either going to have a Constitution or we’re not.”
