In a heartwarming moment for the Trump family and what was surely and exciting and ego-building moment for Barron Trump, the youngest son of the former president, the audience at Trump’s campaign rally in Doral, Florida, on the night of Tuesday, July 9, cheered Barron with a thunderous round of sustained applause. The crowd’s cheering and clapping came as former President Trump praised Barron.
Trump has been heartily praising Barron recently. For example, when asked about his youngest son in a June interview with Fox News, he said, “He’s amazing, actually, in a circle here, he’s tall, good looking guys, a very good student, and he’s, he’s applied to colleges and gets into everywhere he goes. You know, he’s very sought after from the standpoint, he’s a very smart guy, he’s very tall guy, but he’s, and he’s, he’s a great kid. He’s, he’s cool, he’s pretty cool.”
Similarly, speaking during an interview on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday, May 10, Trump spoke about his son. He first joked that he’s “a little on the tall side,” which is true, as Barron towers over even the already tall former President Trump. Trump then added that Barron is good looking and a good student. He said, “He’s a smart one…he’s a great guy. He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student.”
Continuing, Trump noted that Barron likes getting involved in politics and often advises him on political matters, telling him what he needs to do to succeed. Making that comment about Barron’s political invovlement, Trump said, “And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.’”
In any case, speaking during the rally in Doral, Trump kept up the praise of Barron, saying, “That’s the first time he’s done it. That’s the first time, right?” He then added, as the crowd roared with applause and Barron accepted it, “You’re pretty popular, he might be more popular than Don and Eric, we gotta talk about this. Hey Don, we gotta talk about this.”
Continuing on the same note, Trump welcomed Barron to the political scene, one much tougher and rougher than the generally easy and less rough life he grew up in as the son of a billionaire. Trump said, “So Barron, it’s good to have you. Welcome to the scene, Barron. He had such a nice, easy life. Now it’s a little bit changed.” As Trump spoke, the crowd roared with applause for Barron.

Barron was supposed to be one of Florida’s delegates to the Republican convention, but his mother appears to have shut that down. “While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” Melania Trump’s office said in a statement following the announcement.
