Former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s (D-CA) life continues to spiral out of control as investigations into sexual misconduct allegations against him continue moving forward. Swalwell was recently stopped by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation at an airport where his electronic devices were seized, while his home was also being raided as part of the probes into his behavior.
The allegations against the California Democrat surfaced earlier in the year, which led to Swalwell deciding to drop out of the state’s gubernatorial race and resign from his seat in the House of Representatives. At the time of his exiting the governor’s race, he was in the lead. The former congressman is also under criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department over allegations of rape and sexual assault.
In the past, Swalwell has denied these allegations. His attorney has backed him up, referring to the accusations as “fabricated.” Sara Azari, the Democrat’s attorney, issued a comment on the situation when things first came to light, saying, “These accusations are false, fabricated, and deeply offensive – a calculated and transparent political hit job.”
According to a report from the BBC, federal agents took Swalwell’s devices and executed a search warrant that granted them legal permission to enter his home. Swalwell, 45, has faced allegations of sexual misconduct from several different women, including an accusation that he raped one of them while she was too intoxicated to respond.
It’s also being alleged that he sent women unsolicited nude photos. As a high-profile Democrat, Swalwell was often seen publicly trashing President Donald Trump. He decided it was best to step away from his position and drop his bid for California governor as members of the House began making a push to remove him from office.
The House ethics committee began an investigation into him, but that came to an end when he left Congress. Swalwell is being replaced by state senator Aisha Wahab, who won the election to take over the seat for the rest of his congressional term. Wahab, a radical liberal, will serve until January 2027. The White House released a batch of declassified documents from a separate probe into Swalwell that revealed damning details concerning his alleged relationship with Christine Fang, a suspected spy.

Fang, also known as Fang-Fang, is from China and is believed to have been sent here for the sole purpose of getting embedded within the American political system and finding ways to gather intelligence that could be shared with her handlers. Many of the details included in the documents were already known. Swalwell never faced charges concerning the relationship.
Swalwell’s attorney commented on the release of the documents, saying, “What is new and deeply concerning is the apparent use of federal law enforcement information to punish an outspoken critic of the current administration. An investigation that produced no charges and no finding of wrongdoing should not be resurrected years later as a vehicle for political retaliation.”
