WATCH: AOC Gets Absolutely Obliterated by Foreign Official in Germany Conference Smackdown

In a viral exchange captured at the 62nd Munich Security Conference on February 14, 2026, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) faced criticism for an incompetent, evasive response to Bloomberg’s Francine Lacqua asking if the US should commit troops to defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion.

Her response, which many called a “word salad,” avoided a direct answer, referencing a vague, longstanding US policy and emphasizing avoidance of conflict. Users on social media mocked the far-left Democrat and made derisive comments about her potential 2028 presidential run.

Starting off the viral and very entertaining interaction, Lacqua asked a simple question. “Would, and should the US actually commit US troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move [to attack]?” wrongfooting the irritating and far-left American politician with her candor.

Stumbling over her words, the controversial Democrat barely choked out, “I think that this is such a, you know. I think that this is a, this is, of course, a very long-standing policy of the United States,” totally embarrassing herself with such a ridiculous non-answer.

Continuing her inept response, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez added, “And I think what we are hoping for is that we make sure we never get to that point and we want to make sure that we are moving all of our economic, research, and our global positions to avoid any such confrontation and for that question to even arise.”

Speaking at the same event, US NATO Ambassador Matthew Whitaker was much more confident. He noted, “Well, I mean obviously that would be the president’s prerogative as to how to deploy our military. I would just say that we have to deter and defend as we do here on the European continent.”

However, AOC used the event as a cynical attempt to advance her own career. “Extreme levels of income inequality lead to social instability,” she warned in a panel discussion, “economic houses in order and deliver material gains for the working class, or else we will fall to a more isolated world governed by authoritarians.”

She also referred to strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities as “a dramatic escalation no one in the world wants to see,” adding, “Right now, what the Iranian regime is doing particularly with respect to protesters is a horrific slaughter of, some estimates have it at tens of thousands of people.”

“I think that jumping into strikes is, I think that right now we have so much, to me, there’s still so much runway, so much that we can do to avoid that scenario. I think that the United States has an obligation to uphold its own laws, particularly Leahy Laws,” the Democrat claimed.

Turning her attention to Israel, she added, “The idea of completely unconditional aid no matter what one does, does not make sense. I think it enabled a genocide in Gaza, and I think that we have thousands of women and children dead that was completely avoidable.”

Sarcastically praising the New Yorker, one user quipped, “AOC Does Us Proud In Munich. AOC served up another word salad at the security conference in Munich. She couldn’t come up with a coherent response to the question, ‘Should the US intervene if China invades Taiwan?'”
