Five months ago, a family from Queens, New York was left absolutely heartbroken after their dog went missing. However, unlike the vast majority of news stories you’ll probably see today, this one actually has a happy ending. One that has many individuals hearing of the tale calling what happened a bona fide miracle. This will definitely warm your heart.
According to Breitbart News, the family never gave up hope that they would one day, somehow, be reunited with the dog, Mocha, but in the meantime, they decided to go look for another puppy to try and help fill the void left in their hearts by the disappearance, a report from the New York Daily News said.
“We were in the city and we heard about this event and as we were driving we were like, let’s go check it out,” the family’s father recalled, going on to add they decided to look around for a new puppy.
This is the part where the miracle happens. When the family attended the event, the last thing they thought would happen was to be reunited to Mocha, but she was there. The adoption event was held at Manhattan’s Union Square Park on Sunday.
Footage that was captured at the event shows Mocha, nearly bursting with joy, jumping up and down while being surrounded by her loved ones and being drenched in a tidal wave of affection.
Breitbart revealed that Mocha ended up at the Animal Centers of NYC about a month ago after she was found tied to a post located near the ASPCA. Back in January, after the family went on vacation, Mocha was staying at home along with a dog sitter.
When they returned home, both the sitter and Mocha were gone. This, of course, left the couple’s three children emotionally devastated, especially when she did not return home. However, during the event on Sunday, the mother saw Mocha and when he turned around to see for himself, he instantly knew it was their long lost friend.
“I called her name out and she started jumping, perked her ears up to her name and that was it. That was the end of it. She answered to her name,” he said, stating they used photos to provide proof that she really was their missing dog.
According to the family, Mocha had lost some weight, but was otherwise healthy.
“Thank you very much for sharing this precious reminder of how much we can miss a pet, and how wonderful it is to be reunited,” one person said in a comment on the story.
There were no further details concerning what happened during the time the family was on vacation that might explain how Mocha and the dog sitter went missing.
