“Victimized Our Most Vulnerable”: ICE Takes Down Ghanian Convicted of Horrific Crime against Children

Border Czar Tom Homan’s large-scale campaign against illegal immigration is not only off to a strong start, but is managing to round up some of the nastiest criminals in America, including not only violent gang members with groups like Tren de Aragua, but random foreigners who have been inflicting horrible crimes on the vulnerable.

Such is what happened recently, when ICE arrested a legal immigrant from Ghana who had been caught committing and convicted of an absolutely horrific crime against a child. Despite the serious nature of his crime and his having been known to be here as an immigrant rather than a citizen, he was, bizarrely, not deported after his October of 2024 conviction.

Announcing that in a press release, ICE noted that the horrible crime committer was from Chana and was arrested in Columbus, saying, “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended a citizen of Ghana who was convicted of sex crimes with a minor when officers arrested Joseph Osei Boateng January 29 in Columbus, Ohio.”

Describing the horrible crimes he committed in slightly more detail later on in the press release, ICE noted, “The Ghanaian national legally entered the U.S. in 2019. He was convicted of two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor by the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in October 2024.”

Even still he hasn’t been deported as ICE later noted in the press release, saying that he remains in custody as proceeding against him continue through the ponderous court system. “Boateng remains in ICE custody pending the outcome of his immigration proceedings,” it said. Still, at least he is off the streets.

Commenting on the matter, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Detroit Field Office Director Robert Lynch said that this sort of crime will not be tolerated, as it threatens America’s communities in potentially disastrous fashion, saying, “Sex crimes against a minor threaten the very fabric of our communities.”

Continuing, the field office director noted that ICE will remain vigilant for these sorts of criminals and bring down the law upon them, and look for those who can be removed from the United States. He said, “Our ICE team will continue to identify and apprehend individuals amenable to removal who have victimized our most vulnerable population.”

This isn’t the only horrible crime-committing immigrant ICE arrested. Giving another example around the same time, the agency said, “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Luis Fernando Melendez-Rivera, 27, an illegally present Mexican national wanted for aggravated homicide in Mexico, in Denver, Colorado, January 31.”

Like the child assaulting Ghanian, that murderer from Mexico entered America legally, giving lie to the claim that illegal immigration is all that matters. ICE noted, “Melendez lawfully entered the United States Sept. 10, 2022, through Denver International Airport. He remains in ICE custody pending removal.”

Commenting on that arrest, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Denver Field Office Director Robert Guadian said, “The message is clear, you can’t commit heinous crimes in your country and hide-out in ours. ICE agents and our partners in the U.S. Marshals Service performed exemplarily by removing this significant threat from our streets.”
