Senator JD Vance again roasted Vice President Kamala Harris in funny post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, August 9, once again bringing up her seeming reluctance to speak to journalists about anything at all, something that many on the right have brought up in the weeks after President Biden dropped out and named her as his successor.
Trump, for example, joked that Vice President Harris is barely competent and unable to do interviews, quite in contrast to him, saying, “She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview. She’s barely competent. She can’t do an interview, but I look forward to the debates because we have to set the record straight.”
Posting about the matter on X and using it to bring up both the lack of border security under the Biden-Harris administration and Kamala’s reluctance to speak to any journalists, saying, “If we could convince Kamala Harris that illegal aliens are actually journalists trying to ask her questions she’d build that border wall in five seconds.”
This wasn’t the first time that Vance trolled Harris over her seeming refusal to meet with or speak to journalists. For example, during a recent incident when both their planes were on the tarmac, Sen. Vance walked over to a gaggle of press on the tarmac and joked that he wanted to inspect Air Force Two, which he claimed would be “his plane” in just a few months. He also joked about her media reluctance.
“I just, I just wanted to check out my future plane, but I also wanted to go say hello to the Vice President and ask her why Kamala Harris refuses…Why does she refuse to answer questions from the media?” Vance said calling out Harris for refusing to take questions from the press. “And I also thought that the press gaggle following her might get a little lonely,” he added.
Further, he said that he is at least willing to answer questions, unlike her. “I at least have enough respect for you all and for the American people you report to come and talk to you and to answer some questions. And so I thought her reporters might actually benefit from that as well. So had a little bit of fun,” he said.
“I don’t think the Vice President waved at me and she drove away, but I’m glad to have done it, and I’m glad to be here in Wisconsin actually trying to persuade people to vote for us, as opposed to just giving another scripted speech. You did see the vice president. I saw her car. I did not see the vice president. The windows are tinted. I did not speak to her,” he continued. He then said, “I think she was trying to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible. But I did speak to a lot of the press gaggle following her.”
He later added, on much the same point, “And again, I really can’t believe she’s been a substantive nominee for 17 days and she hasn’t taken a real question from reporters.” Watch that hilarious incident here:
